Weekly E-blast

September 21, 2017

This month we are focused on the truth that we are

spiritual vessels filled by God to be poured out for his

purposes.

There are many ways God pours out blessings on the

world through our lives. We will be describing several of

those ways in worship this week.

One way that we pour ourselves out as God's vessels is

through our monetary gifts to the church. On the surface,

giving to the church budget is not very glamorous.

However, if you stop to consider the many different

ways God touches people with spiritual blessings it

becomes very exciting to play a part in what God is

doing through our church's mission and ministry budget.

Everywhere you look on Sunday mornings and through

the week here on our campus you will see people of all

ages influenced through the nurturing ministries of our

Thursday, Sept. 28 Isaiah Bible 6:30 p.m. Study begins

church. Our ministries with children, youth, adults, and

older adults are all heavily supported by financial gifts.

Our outreach ministries to the poor in our community

and around the world are funded by our shared giving

through the offering plate. We share love in God's name

through our many gifts.

The facilities from which so many of our activities are

conducted or launched are safe, clean, attractive, and

functional due to the support we get from the offering

plate.

It is impossible in just a few sentences to describe the

spiritual impact made possible with the monetary gifts

that come weekly through the offering. All of us are

beneficiaries of the shared giving of our members and

those who consider PUMC their church home.

October 1 is Commitment Sunday for pledges to the

2018 mission and ministry budget. I can not over stress

the importance of having every family turn in a

commitment. Our leaders need to be able to plan

appropriately for next year's ministry offerings.

If you are not going to be here on October 1, please goahead and turn in a commitment card so it can beincluded in the response. Cards are available inthe church office, in the pew racks, or you mayclick here to go to our church website to complete acommitment card online.

Our financial offerings are a high and holy expression ofworship, and of our understanding that we are "Vessels:Filled and poured out for God's purposes."

Thanks for being part of God's great work here atPUMC!

Opening NightTonight: Thursday!

Would you like to place flowers onthe altar one Sunday?

Periodically, we have an "open" Sunday when no onehas signed up to provide altar flowers for our worshipservices.

If you are interested in being placed on a list to becontacted about providing flowers, please reach out toDiana Gray in the church office by phone (987-1852) orby email.

If you already place flowers in the sanctuary on-or-about the same Sunday each year, please callDiana to confirm your desires. We are trying to getthe flower schedule organized and do not want tohave anyone slip through the cracks.

Here are a few "frequently asked questions."

1. Who choses the florist to be used? The person purchasing the flowers makes direct contactwith the desired florist. We can let you know whichflorists have a key to the church for delivery prior toSunday morning.

2. Is there any guidance about the wording to beplaced in the bulletin?Diana can help you with the wording placed in thebulletin. Most arrangements are placed in one of three"categories:

In memory of loved ones who have died.In honor of loved ones who are still livingTo the glory of God

3. Can I have the same Sunday each year?Yes. All this has to be worked out based on availableSundays on our master calendar.

4. Is there a "suggested" price range/size for thearrangements? While each family makes their own selections, theaverage amount begins at approximately $50. It ispreferred that the arrangement height not go more than36 inches.

5. Are we required to use a florist? Can we makeour own arrangements using flowers in season? We have many talented people in our church. Certainly, you can make your own floral arrangements.

Please feel free to call Diana Gray more informationregarding scheduling flowers for PUMC worshipservices.

Mission T-Shirt fundraiser

Our Mission's committee will be selling t-shirts as afundraiser during the month of September. Shirts are$20 each. Orders may be placed online by clickinghere; or by coming by the church office.

All proceeds will go to the Honduras mission trip inMarch 2018.

**These t-shirts are a very soft material, and tend to be

a little more fitted. The t-shirt company recommendsordering a size larger that you would normally wear, ifyou want a loose fit.

Thank you.

Larry and Linda Johnson are so grateful to members of

the Christadelphian Class who removed a fallen tree

and the debris from the Irma storm last week.

The group surprised the Johnsons by doing the work

while they had a doctor's appointment at Emory.
