The Mündliche Prüfung is a conference-end, optional test for students on Mises University readings and plenary lectures. The exam consists of a preliminary written quiz on Thursday evening and orals on Saturday. Qualifying participant names will be posted on the monitor in Ward Library (first floor) by Friday morning. On Saturday, a faculty jury will engage each of the qualifying examinees in a ten-minute question-and-answer session. Each of the three faculty panels will select two students as their leading candidates from the examinations.

The names of the final six will be posted on the monitor in Ward Library immediately following the examinations. These six finalists will then undergo a deeper examination by the entire faculty. At the 3:30 p.m. closing graduation ceremony in Wolfe Hall, the third and second highest scorers will receive the Kenneth Garschina prize of $1,500 for second place and $750 for third. The student selected by the faculty as the most learned of the conference will receive the Douglas E. French Prize of $2,500.
