Booster Club Happy New Year Everyone! We hope you had a great holiday break and that everyone is back in the swing of this next semester. First some quick recaps from the close of 2018: Freshman Parent night was well organized by Jhina Tabulina Obrien and Brandy Johnson and with our Saxon Store cranking out SHS gear. Thanks to Frank Kolasa. It looks like we have some great enthusiastic incoming parents, so SHS VIP will be very exciting in 2019-2020. Robi Vollkommer continues to find great Dine to Donate opportunities within our community providing opportunities to meet and mingle with SHS folks, have some good eats and contribute to the VIP fundraising efforts. Keep on the lookout for our 50/50 raffle at the next basketball games. The Mortell family really has been doing a great job helping with this fan favorite type of fundraising. For 2019, the SHS VIP Spring Calendar is packed with exciting events, which we invite you be part of, whether helping behind the scenes or jumping in and having fun! First up is the ANNUAL TRIVIA NIGHT on February 8 at 6 pm run by Stacie Campbell and Latoya Walton. Who was the winner of the 1908 World Series? Who is the FONZ? How many states are on the Mississippi river? These questions and more are the types of questions asked at Trivia Night. If you like or even love trivia, this event always has been a big parent and teacher event. Reserve your table or seat(s) for by February 1 at this link: https://goo.gl/forms/Va4mTytUEcrjRVck1. There will be an open bar, dinner served. Volunteers are also needed. Scholarship applications are due on February 15. We look forward to many applications. Students will be heading to winter formal on February 16. VIP volunteers are needed to help with refreshments and coat check. Prom is only a few months away. The SHS VIP Prom Fashion Show will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 7 pm in the auditorium to give students a chance to see the latest Prom attire styles from a local tuxedo and dress shop. Message from the SHS V.I.P. Booster Club

Happy New Year Everyone!

We hope you had a great holiday break and that everyone is back in the swing of this next semester.

First some quick recaps from the close of 2018:

Freshman Parent night was well organized by Jhina Tabulina Obrien and Brandy Johnson and with our Saxon Store cranking out SHS gear. Thanks to Frank Kolasa. It looks like we have some great enthusiastic incoming parents, so SHS VIP will be very exciting in 2019-2020.

Robi Vollkommer continues to find great Dine to Donate opportunities within our community providing opportunities to meet and mingle with SHS folks, have some good eats and contribute to the VIP fundraising efforts.

Keep on the lookout for our 50/50 raffle at the next basketball games. The Mortell family really has been doing a great job helping with this fan favorite type of fundraising.

SHS VIP SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE TO SENIORS! Seniors, do you need cash for college? Whether you are planning to attend a 2- or 4-year university, or a technical/vocational school, the V.I.P. Club is offering scholarships that can be used for the pursuit of higher education to the SHS Class of 2019. You could pay tuition, buy books, or whatever else you need, plus the check is made payable to YOU, not your parents or the school!

Check out this year’s scholarships being offered:

Academic Scholarships: One $1,250.00 Academic Scholarship, three $1,000.00 Academic Scholarships, and five $750.00 Academic Scholarships will be awarded to students who have demonstrated their success at Schaumburg High School and in the community.

Jean Bajko Volunteerism Scholarship: One $1,000.00 Volunteerism Scholarship will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated their volunteerism at Schaumburg High School and in the community.

Special Education Scholarship: One $1,000.00 will be awarded to an outstanding special education student who has demonstrated their success at Schaumburg High School and in the community.

Students may apply for more than one category of scholarship; however, they can only be awarded one scholarship.

To be eligible for these scholarships, a senior’s parent or guardian must be a member of the SHS VIP by December 1, 2018. Membership applications will be available on the SHS website under the Parents tab.

Scholarship applications will be available online on the SHS website Friday, November 16, 2018. All completed applications must be submitted online no later than Friday, February 15, 2019. Please contact Michelle Tunquist, [email protected] if you have any questions.

Join us for the 7TH Annual SHS VIP Trivia Game Night!!!! The SHS VIP is proud to present its 7th annual Trivia Game Night on Friday, February 8, 2019 at The Seville in Streamwood!!! Bring your friends & family for a night of “brain busting, prize-winning” fun!

Open Bar and Dinner are also included in the registration price. In addition to the fun games there will be raffle prizes and silent auction items showcased throughout the night. Get your team of 8 together and make your reservation. $400 per table of 8 people. Don’t have a team? Registration is also available for 1 or 2 people. You will be assigned to a team. Registration (and payment) is due by February 1 at 6 pm.

Committee News Volunteers and Leaders Needed We anticipate several openings for next year’s SHS V.I.P. board and committees. If there is an area that interests you, please contact us. Watch this space for specifics on upcoming needs.

We are also looking to add to our fundraising efforts with new, innovative ideas to support our Students, Clubs and Community. If you have experience, and would like to be part of a great group of parents, we invite you to join our efforts.

Hospitality The hospitality committee provides support for the following events. If you would like to volunteer to setup tables, serve refreshments or check coats for the following events in 2018 – 2019, please contact Kirti Parmar at [email protected] or Josie Zakariya at [email protected] for more information.
