The electronically controlled hybrid simulatorssimulate preprogrammed bolted joints with variousdegrees of joint hardness. Joint characteristics willbe simulated from initial rundown to nal tightening.The measurement and test ranges correspond to yourapplication scenarios and enable you to test torquetools from 0.4 Nm to 5,000 Nm.

The integrated rechargeable battery makes youindependent of AC power for approximately 16 hours.Test intervals can be extended by occasionallyconnecting the system to the AC line for recharging.

All programming, control and analysis tasks run inthe integrated PC unit using client/server-capableCEUS software that supports both stand-aloneand networked operation. All torque tools andbolted joint operations are stored in the database.Requirements, specications and test proceduresare presented clearly and unambiguously, and CEUSensures traceable documentation.

Torque/angle transducers, stationary testers andadditional bolted joint simulators can be connectedusing external connectors. External torque/angletransducers allow the parameters of the originalbolted joint to be determined using the JointScanning learning function. After the joint has beenmeasured under practical conditions, the systemsimulates the bolted joint. Stationary testers,such as mechanisms for testing torque wrenches,enable testing compliant with ISO 6789.

SCHATZ®-cerTESTFAST AND EASY TOOL TESTING

Tools can be equipped with your choice of barcodelabels or electronic identication systems forunambiguous identication and traceability of alltools. The user only has to scan in the tool identierand can start testing immediately, with no need foradditional operator actions.

Simply enter the tool number in the CEUS programon the PC, and the system is ready to test. Key testdata, such as tolerance limits, joint characteristicsand statistical parameters, is stored in a database,eliminating the need for repeat entry. Individualtools are tested with a combination of the tool andthe assembly operation for which the tool is used.Once the tool and the joint have been paired, theyremain linked together.

The CEUS user interface guides the user throughthe entire tool testing process. The target valueis shown numerically and graphically. The graphicwindow where measured values are displayed showsat a glance whether they are within or outside thetolerance range, or where they are located withinthe tolerance range and how large the spread is.The measured torque, rotation angle and no-loadspeed of the tool are displayed. For more exactanalysis, a graphic plot shows the characteristicsof the tool as observed during the measurementprocess or during shutdown. Thanks to the automatedtest sequence, users can concentrate fully on thetest and the tool.

The test stand precisely simulates the joint wherethe tool under test is used. Thanks to fast simulationof the reference joint, the tool can be tested withinroughly 3 seconds. The test system measures torque,rotation angle and speed (rpm) during eachmeasurement. Settings of click-type wrenches canbe checked on the simulators. All measured valuesare displayed on the screen during the test andsubsequently analyzed in the CEUS system.

SPECIAL SOLUTIONS FOR YOURAPPLICATION SCENARIO

For testing built-in torque tools, an articulated armis used to position the simulator appropriately. Thearticulated arm can withstand torques up to 250 Nm,eliminating the need for additional braces.

The test stand is equipped with a pivot mechanismthat allows the simulators to be used vertically,horizontally, or in any other orientation.This facilitates the testing of tools mountedvertically or horizontally on the assembly line.

Test execution

Indicating and click-type torque wrenches can beadapted to the system quickly using interchange-able adapters and a reaction bar with adjustableheight and length.

The test stand is equipped with a multirange sensorto keep measurement uncertainty less than 0.5 %over the entire measuring range from 15 Nm to1,500 Nm. For lower torque ranges from 0.5 Nm to50 Nm, the system can be equipped with an optional50 Nm unit.

The overall system is built as a small,agile and compact mobile unit for quick and easy useon the assembly line. It is powered by a rechargeablebattery for up to 16 hours of continuous operationin measurement mode from a fully charged battery.The integrated PC runs the CEUS® 8.2 test softwareand manages all tool test data, so the inspectoron-site does not have to perform any setup taskson the test system – the tools to be tested cansimply be selected from a list.

For calibration or certication of threaded fastenersystems, it is essential that the tests are performedunder reproducible conditions.

SCHATZ®-cerTEST-WMOBILE TEST STAND FORTORQUE/ANGLE WRENCHES

Indicating torque/angle wrenches can betested dynamically on the assembly line at denedintervals using freely congurable test sequences.Test parameters can be derived from existing boltedjoints in production as well as standardized MCTspecications. Tests can be performed torquecontrolled or angle controlled.

Bolted joints corresponding to the classicationshard, medium and soft according to ISO 5393 orVDI/VDE 2647 can be congured and simulated inthe reference test system.

Testing can be performedmanually or automatically.The objective of manual testing is to assess theaccuracy of the torque/angle wrench while takinghuman factors into account, while the objectiveof automatic testing is to determine the inherentaccuracy of the tool while excluding human factors.Both test methods provide information about therepeatability of the torque wrench. The test standis operated using an integrated industrial PC,which includes measurement and analysis softwarerunning on the CEUS® 8.2 software platform con-trolling the test system.

The operating torque range of the systemis 10 Nm to 300 Nm, and the maximum operatingrotation angle range in automatic mode is 220degrees. The speed can be congured at twodifferent levels in the range of 0.2 to 2.5 rpm.Wrenches with an overall length up to 750 mm canbe tested. If wrenches with accessory extensionshave to be tested, the test system can optionallybe equipped with manual height adjustment.

Automatic testingThe wrench is placed in the rotating arm, theappropriate data set is retrieved, and the test isstarted. After the specied test sequence is com-pleted, the result is read from the wrench, the datais imported into the program, the rotating armreturns automatically to its home position, andthe next test sequence begins.

Manual testingThe appropriate data set is retrieved. The wrench ismanually adapted and operated as usual. A relativelylarge rotation angle (such as 360 degrees) canbe covered by ratcheting the wrench several times.Data entry is performed in the same way as forautomatic testing.

Analysis of results

Periodic testing of all tools is documented in thetest schedule. Results can be visualized and compli-ance with test intervals can be seen at a glance.Individual values and graphic plots for faultdiagnosis can be viewed by clicking a test point.

Customized certicates can be generated with thereport editor. Key data, company logos, images anddrawings are integrated into the report.

The calibration service of our DAkkS calibrationlaboratory (DK-17572-01-00) ensures thetraceability of measured torque/angle data. Usingsuitable transfer standards directly traceable toreference standards, we carry out complete torque/angle calibrations on site at your premises so thatyou can use your systems again as quickly as possible.Maintenance and calibration are important factorsin maintaining value and ensuring the availabilityof test equipment.

Our maintenance service keeps your test equipmentin good working order, and in combination withsoftware maintenance it ensures that your testequipment is always up to date and compliant withstandards. Wear parts are replaced, functions andprocedures are checked, software is updated to thelatest version, and cosmetic repairs and cleaning areperformed as necessary.
