The Diamond Awards is a program designed by the Chamber to honor and recognize outstanding chamber members with the “Diamond Awards” of excellence to the Business of the Year, New Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year and the Ambassador of the Year.

October 5-7 Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Columbiana | Shelby County BOW is a three day workshop designed for women ages 18 years or older. The workshop offers hands-on instruction in a fun and non-threatening learning environment. Participants choose from over 50 courses such as backyard wildlife, rock climbing, camp cooking, map and compass, camping, mountain biking, shooting sports (pistol, rifl e, shotgun, muzzleloader, as well as gun safety), fi shing, hunting, canoeing, nature photography, nature crafts, archery, ATV handling, bird watching, motor boat handling, and more. October 20 Harpersville Heritage Tour Harpersville | Shelby County The City of Harpersville and the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce is hosting a “Harpersville Heritage Tour”. The tour is guided by Mayor Theoangelo Perkins and will depart from Morgan Creek Vineyards (181 Morgan Creek Lane, Harpersville, Al 35078) at 9am to 12pm and will travel by bus which will include walking site visits as well. The tours admission is $20 per adult and $16 per child and 5yrs old and under are free, tour includes refreshments will be provided at the Harpersville City Hall. The tour will highlight many of the cities historically registered sites listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage. These properties, which may be of national, state, and local signifi cance, are designated by the Alabama Historical Commission under the authority of the Alabama Legislature. It also showcases two sites the Chancellor House and the Newman Rock House that are on the National Register of Historic Places. Historic sites include the Harpersville Garden of Memories Cemetery also known as the Harpersville City Cemetery; Klein-Wallace House built in 1841, Chancellor House built in 1935, Old Baker Farm and the City Hall formally the communities elementary school. This will be the sixth year of the tour. New this year is our partnership with Prideline Transportation that will be escorted our group tour. The seating is limited to 33 seats so please make your reservations as soon as possible. According to the 2000 Census the population of Harpersville was 1,620. The city continues to grow due to the growth of big business on Highway 280. Harpersville is home to Morgan Creek Vineyards and Old Baker’s Christmas Tree Farm, a historic graveyard, Shelby Sod farm, and a drive in Movie Theater, numerous cotton fi elds, a public park, two private schools, and numerous subdivisions. October 27 Whigmaleerie Day in Wilsonville Wilsonville | Shelby County 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Wilsonville honors its Scottish heritage with Whigmaleerie Day, a third annual event celebrating the town’s past, present and future with exhibits, a music festival stage, children’s rides, a Revolutionary War Camp and reenactment, antique vehicles, local vendors, a chili cooking contest and bagpipers. This is a fi rst class lady who is at the helm of the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce

steering all ships ahead! Having been employed at Shelby Baptist Medical Center for over

34 years Donna is now the Executive Assistant to David Wilson, President and CEO and

Dr. David Cleveland Chief Medical Offi cer. Shelby Baptist Medical Center is home to over

1,000 employees in Shelby County! With a Columbiana hometown background Donna and

her husband Robert have two grown children, two grandchildren. She and her husband are

active members of the First Baptist Church of Alabaster where Donna sings in the choir.

When asked what have you seen as a board member President that you did not see as a

member at the South Shelby Chamber of Commerce she answered “ The way the Chamber

and the different municipalities work together.” She also mentioned “I enjoy seeing how our

members utilize the chamber in growing their businesses.”

Donna Smelcer has been our Board President for one year and is able to serve a two year

term. The professionalism she brings to our board is second to none. Donna has donated

countless hours in making our County the best place to live work and raise our families!
