TMDXSCBP6618X Quick Start Guide
The TMDXSCBP6618X includes:
 TMDXSCBP6618X
 Power supply
Power cord & Universal Adapter (USA, UK, Europe)
Mini B USB cable for on-board JTAG emulation
 Ethernet cable
UART cable (Audio Jack to DB-9)
 Documentation
Before starting:
• Check integrity of the packaging
• Open the package and check that all the parts listed above are present and undamaged
• Execute the steps described below
1
Set DIP SWITCH S1 in order to select USB JTAG or 20 pin connector JTAG
(switch position 9) and if JTAG must be connected to TMX320C6A8167 or
TMX320TCI6618X (switch position 2). The board supports only one JTAG
chain at a time.

2
Set DIP SWITCH S2 and S3 as shown in the figures below. TMX320C6A8167 will
boot from NAND flash. For TMX320TCI6618X both configurations are described
(“No boot” and “Network boot”).
3 Set DIP SWITCH S4 as shown in the figure below to set standard JTAG mode.
Other configurations are reserved for future use. If necessary, select endianness
with a jumper on J24 connector, position 5-6 (close: BIG ENDIAN, open: LITTLE
ENDIAN)
Switch S4: Standard JTAG
Switch S2: NAND Boot
(TMX320C6A8167)
Switch S3: No boot
(TMX320TCI6618X)
Switch S3: Network boot
(TMX320TCI6618X)
Connector J24: Endianess

4
Connect the UART cable to the UART cable jack for console monitoring.
5
Connect the MINI-USB cable or 20-pin JTAG connector (as selected in Step 1)
for on board embedded emulation.
6 Connect your PC (or Ethernet switch/router) to the Gigabit Ethernet port (RJ1)
using the supplied Ethernet cable.
7
Connect the 12V DC power supply to power jack (J1).
Warning: Power ON and Power OFF procedures require disconnection of Switching
Power Supply. In order to reduce mechanical stress of the DIN connector J1, please
leave it plugged together. To turn off the power, unplug the power cord from the
Switching Power Supply (or disconnect the plug from the socket).

Getting Started
When the TMDXSCBP6618X is powered, it executes some procedures to load FPGA
and check hardware functionalities. Looking at the LEDs during start-up phase you
can verify that the start-up procedure is successfully completed.
- LED 1 (GREEN): this is the Power LED. When Power Supply is connected this
LED must be switched ON.
- LED 2 (RED): this LED blinks during board start-up phase, then it is turned
OFF.
- LED 3 (GREEN): this LED is turned ON after FPGA start-up phase completion.
It shows that board is up and running.
- Diagnostic LEDs: these LEDs are turned ON during start-up phase. They must
be OFF after start-up completion.
- FPGA LED 1: this LED (RED) blinks during FPGA programming phase, then it’s
turned OFF if FPGA is successfully loaded.
- FPGA LED 2: this LED (GREEN) shows FPGA status. It is turned ON after FPGA
is successfully loaded.

After this phase, TMX320C6A8167 Reset Code is executed by the Bootloader and
the LINUX is loaded. If you are connected with the console cable, you can monitor
software initialization.
At the end of the procedure, Linux prompt should be available.
