An “A” Writing Assignment

• Content: Includes a focused topic, research question, strong thesis statement, introduction, and conclusion. Shows original thought. Develops main points clearly. The submitted paper exceeds all assignment requirements.

• Organization: Internally, each section has clear organization. Transitions found between and within sections are clear and effective.

• Writing Style: Appropriate to the assignment, fresh (interesting to read), accurate (no far-fetched, unsupported comments), precise (says what the author means), and concise (not wordy).

• Mechanics: Essay is free of serious errors; syntax, grammar, punctuation, and spelling help to clarify the meaning by following accepted conventions. APA guidelines are followed.
