Pre-Experiment Installation and Commissioning
Plans & Milestones
Goals:
⇨ Assembly and commissioning 11 GEM layers in the EEL Clean Room for Gen-RP Trackers
▪ Evaluate the assembled GEM layers for noise levels, efficiency and resolution using cosmic.
⇨ Commissioning of hardware level background suppression algorithms
▪ Test MPD readout in SSP mode with the zero suppression on a large scale
⇨ Develop and test diagnostic scripts to be used in GEM tracker commissioning.
Milestones:
⇨ 11/2018: Complete the assembly and testing of the first large area GEM layer (LT1).
⇨ 12/2018: Complete the implementation of hardware background suppression. Demonstrate the proper working at high
rate trigger and background conditions using x-ray data @ UVa then implemented on large scale on the Cosmic stand
⇨ 12/2018 - 12/2019: Assembly and testing of 11 Uva GEM layers. It is expected that after the first layer, each subsequent
layer will take approximately 1 month. Testing of the layers with cosmic will be carried out simultaneously.
⇨ We have a SBS-GMn-GEMs weekly meeting every Tuesday Morning @ 9:00 am with the wiki page below
