Niagara FallsOne of the natural wonders of the world,Niagara Falls was formed about 12,000years ago when the retreating glaciers ofthe last ice age allowed water to spill overthe Niagara Escarpment. The waterfallwas originally located at Queenston, nearthe shore of the great glacial Lake Iroquois(now known as Lake Ontario), but has sinceeroded 11.4 kilometres southwards, creating theNiagara gorge. About 600 years ago Niagara Fallswas a single waterfall, but erosion since that timehas created two falls: the American falls andthe Canadian “Horseshoe” falls.

Niagara Parks Butterfly ConservatoryThe Butterfly Conservatory features over2,000 exotic butterflies of the world in atropical rainforest environment. Dozensof species fly free through the climate-controlled 1,022 square metre conservatory.Outside, visitors can meet some of the nativebutterflies in the outdoor Butterfly Garden,and beyond the garden there is a 40 hectareBotanical Garden. Audio tours are available in sixlanguages, including German.

The Niagara Escarpment – A World Biosphere ReserveThe Niagara Escarpment is one of theworld’s most unique natural wonders – amasterpiece of living art that has beenrecognized as a UNESCO WorldBiosphere Reserve. The diverse naturallandscape contains an incredible ecosys-tem. It is home to 36 species of reptilesand amphibians, 53 species of mammals,90 species of fish and more than 350 speciesof birds. Particularly remarkable are theancient Eastern White Cedars, some of thembetween 400 and 1,000 years old, which grow out ofcracks in the rock cliffs of the escarpment.

Six Nations Pow-wowNative pow-wows are traditional communalcelebrations among North AmericanIndians, which can last from one day to aweek or more. They feature dancing, dis-plays of arts and crafts, and traditionaltribal dress. The Six Nations pow-wow,held each summer at Ohsweken, attractsover 400 dancers from across NorthAmerica and features drumming, singing,native crafts and food. Six Nations, locatednear Hamilton, is the largest native Indian com-munity in Canada.

African Lion SafariAt African Lion Safari visitors enjoy a close-upview of more than 1,000 unique and raremammals and birds who roam free acrossthis vast reserve. In the comfort of your owncar, or as a passenger in the air-conditionedSafari Tour Bus, you will travel along the“Safari Trail” through prides of lions, troopsof baboons and herds of zebra. You will alsosee big cats, white rhino, ostrich, giraffe andmany other exotic species. Be sure not to missthe daily elephant swim and the exciting birds of prey flying demonstrations.

Royal Botanical GardensSurround yourself in the breathtaking spectacle of the Royal Botanical Gardens, 1,100 hectaresof cultivated gardens, indoor plantscapes andnatural lands. There are five distinct gardenareas, including the panoramic Rock Gardenwith its 100,000 tulips and daffodils; theLaking Garden, which features irises andpeonies; and the Hendrie Garden, whichpresents a dazzling display of roses. Explorethe 30-kilometre trail system which crisscrossesfour nature sanctuaries that are home to manynative species of plants, birds and animals.

CN TowerThe CN Tower is Canada’s most recognizable and cele-brated icon. At a height of 553 metres, it is theWorld’s Tallest Building and the centre of tourismin Toronto.
