It’s easy to reduce your summer energy bills with Saver’s Switch. We install pager-activated switches adjacent to your outdoor AC units at no cost to you. The switches cycle your air conditioning compressors on and off during peak demand times for electricity, which usually occur on hot, humid summer days.

Reasons to participate in Saver’s Switch

• It’s a free program that can help your business save money on your annual electric bills.

• You’re contributing toward managing peak electric demand periods and reducing the need to build additional power plants.

• Temperatures stay comfortable because your fan continues to circulate air.

• Xcel Energy installs and services your switch free of charge.

How the program works

• Saver’s Switch pays you a monthly discount of $5 per ton of enrolled air conditioning on your energy bills from June through September.

• Xcel Energy typically activates the switches an average of five to 15 days per summer.

• Saver’s Switch is generally activated between late morning and early evening on hot summer days when Xcel Energy experiences peak demand for electricity.

• Single-stage and dual-stage air conditioning units are cycled on and off in 15- to 20-minute intervals on days when Xcel Energy uses Saver’s Switch. Temperatures stay comfortable since air conditioner fans keep circulating air when compressors are cycled off.

• Xcel Energy automatically renews your participation annually so there is no need to reapply.
