Artcurial will return to the Principality for a three-day auction on the 17th, 18th and 19th July 2019. Artcurial takes up residence in its summer quarters following the inauguration of the new exhibition space in the heart of Monte Carlo, and the launch of a new cultural summer project, Monaco Sculptures taking place from April to August 2019. Four prestigious auctions will also be hosted at Hotel Hermitage: Jewellery, Watches, Le Temps est Féminin and Hermès Summer Collection.

MONTE-CARLO - Artcurial welcomes French, Monegasques and international collectors for a week of prestigious sales in the Principality. From 17th to 19th July 2019, at Hotel Hermitage, the house will orchestrate Jewellery, Watch and Vintage Hermès auctions which have fetched more than €10 M each summer, over the years.

Reinforcing its leading position on the Riviera with the launch of a new exhibition gallery last March in Monte-Carlo and in partnership with Monte Carlo Société des Bains de mer, Artcurial will host a new cultural event: Monaco Sculptures. Open to the public throughout the summer, it will gather together a selection of sculptures by twentieth and twenty-first centuries artists such as Takis, Caesar, Arman, Bernar Venet, Wang and Richard Deacon. During an artistic promenade through the streets of the Principality, visitors will discover a panorama of modern and contemporary sculptures, both monumental or not. The works will be included at auction on 19th July, during the closing of the traditional chapter dedicated to the most luxurious collector items.

Under the impulse of Julie Valade, Director of the Jewellery department, the auctions will begin on Wednesday 17th July at 11:30 am with a magnificent selection of Art Deco pieces including a 1970’s yellow gold René Boivin ring set with a pillow-cut sapphire, yellow diamonds and baguette sapphires (Estimate €8,000 - 9,000). Also, some remarkable Van Cleef & Arpels pieces such as a pair of stylized flower earrings in yellow gold, decorated with a yellow oval sapphire without heat treatment and diamonds, dating from the 1990’s, estimate €25,000 - 35,000, or a flexible yellow gold necklace set with brilliant cut diamonds estimated €40,000 - 60,000.

Following the ever-increasing success of the first three editions and a two-digit volume sales progression, the Watch department, led by Marie Sanna- Legrand, will host a third opus of its thematic sale dedicated ladies’ timepieces, Le Temps est Féminin. The Wednesday, 17th July auction will start at 7pm featuring creations from Maison Piaget. The Thursday 18th July auction, starting at 2:30 pm will be dedicated to Collector Timepieces with headline articles such as the Patel Philippe Nautilus Ref.5980/1 R001 with a red gold bracelet, estimate €70,000 - 90,000 and Panerai’s incredible Radiomir Ref.3646, once belonging to combat swimmer Helmut Russel, a watch which remains one of the world’s most documented diver pieces used by combat swimmers during 2nd World War known to date. (estimate €85,000 - 100,000).

This Monaco event is also the opportunity for the Vintage Hermès & Fashion Arts Department, led by Penelope Blanckaert, to bring together an extraordinary range of Hermès bags ranging from emblematic Birkin and Kelly bags to unsung heroes such as a bright red ostrich, cactus green alligator, doblis violet calfskin and black box Himalaya (estimate €7,000 - 10,000), to the delight of the Calèche brand enthusiasts. Two noteworthy pieces dating from the 1960’s once belonging to Serge Gainsbourg each carry an estimate of €2,000 - 4,000 which will be sold at auction, all proceeds going to Doctors of the World.
