Please save the date for the second annual Rugiero Casino Royale, on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Italian American Club, Livonia. This exciting celebration begins promptly at 6 p.m., so don’t be late for continuous “Vegas” fun including: gaming on authentic gaming tables with professional dealers, Texas Hold-em and Black Jack Tournament, professional entertainment, silent auction, raffle, music, dancing and a grand dinner menu. Last year over 300 guests enjoyed a dazzling evening of gaming, live music, a visit from Elvis, great prizes and a grand prize weekend at Green Valley Resort in Las Vegas.

Proceeds from this event will benefit research at the University of Michigan Brehm Center through the Antonio Rugiero Diabetes Research Fund. Diabetes now affects the health and well-being of millions of people, includ-ing many or our friends and family. Data from the 2011 National Diabetes Fact Sheet confirms: • 25.8 million Children and adults in the United States—8.3% of the population—have diabetes.• Undiagnosed: 7.0 million people• 1.9 million new cases of diabetes are diagnosed in people aged 20 years and older in 2010.• In 2007, diabetes was listed as the underlying cause on 71,382 death certificates and was listed as a contributing factor on an additional 160,022 death certificates. This means that diabetes contributed to a total of 231,404 deaths.
