Savages farewell

In 1975 as Jan and Barry drove into Ongerup, Jan famously said “ Okay I’ll

give it three years then I want to move to somewhere better” !! Over 40 years

later as the community gathered to farewell this amazing couple and wish

them well for the next chapter of their life, those words caused much

laughter from everyone there who all had experienced Jan’s commitment

MC Emily invited an array of speakers forward to reflect on the contributions

they have made to so many organisations in Ongerup and the surrounding

districts.

maintenance of the vehicle and shed in Ongerup. Jan has played her role as a

most convincing patient during training exercises.

Gerald Slee presented both Jan and Barry with 10 year service medals

from the Bushfire Brigade to recognise their outstanding contribution in

running the base radio station for so many years.

nity Resource Centre, Jan is a past President and has always been the

go-to person to help untangle the bureaucratic maze, she will be much

missed from our committee.

the board, Barry doing countless hours of maintenance at the centre.

outstanding advocate for Ongerup and the Gnowangerup Shire “ in

everything she did she was always kind” he said.

Graeme Savage spoke on behalf of the family and community, and David

Nield finished the speeches on behalf of the Bowling Club.

Hi Everyone! Easter is only around the corner, so for the past two Tuesdays in Daycare we have been busy getting our wall

ready for Our Easter Craft Garden!

Last week the kids made lovely lady bugs and this week they made beautiful butterflies. We are hoping to make some cat-

erpillars and bunnies next week to add to our garden! We also had some outdoor water play last week as it was a hot day!

The kids thoroughly enjoyed playing with the cool water and some of them even dipped their toes in!
