To minimise electricity consumption, always choose the highest recom-mended output in relation to the sauna volume. This is especially importantin log saunas or saunas with glazed wall sections. The greater the outputof the heater in relation to the size of the sauna room, the less the actualenergy consumption. This means, for example, that in a sauna room with avolume of 4 cu.m., a 6.6 kW heater is a better choice than a 4.5 kW heater.

To minimise electricity con-sumption, always choose thehighest recommended outputin relation to the volume ofthe sauna. This is especiallyimportant in log saunas andsaunas with a veranda orglazed wall sections. The Tylarium steam sauna is a variationon traditional sauna bathing, but with muchhigher humidity (up to 70%). The Tylö Combi is a sophisticated heater that lets youenjoy traditional saunas and steam or herbal saunas inone and the same room. The choice is yours – a traditionalsauna at 70–110°C in a relative humidity of 5–35%, ora steam sauna at 45–65°C with constant or pulsating cloudsof steam in 40–65% humidity. You can even add a littlespice to your bathing with a refreshing herbal sauna.The heater has built-in dispensers for natural herbs andliquid essences.

Tylarium in public saunas

Tylarium has made a huge improvement in the climate andcomfort of public saunas. Now you can enjoy traditionalsaunas and gentler steam saunas in one and the sameroom.

Just key in the desired temperature and humidity (RH) onthe control panel: for example 65°C and 30% RH for asteam sauna. These settings will then remain constantwhile you are bathing. After each bathing cycle an auto-matic air-drying function removes any excess humidityfrom the air. For a traditional sauna, set the temperatureat, for example, 85°C with 15% relative humidity. Thismeans that there is no longer any need to sprinkle watermanually over the stones in public saunas.

With Tylarium you can wave goodbye to searing hot, drybaths, effectively preventing the scorched panels which aresuch a common problem in saunas at hotels and swimmingpools. VA or VB steam genera-tors can be located upto 15 metres from thesauna. Simply enter thedesired relative humid-ity (2–65%) on thecontrol panel.

Install an SE or SD saunaheater inside the sauna.Enter the desired bathingtemperature (45–110°C)on the control panel.

The CC panel controls both thesauna heater and the steam gen-erator, for example, from thereception area. The sauna can alsobe remote-controlled from otherlocations than where the controlpanel itself is actually placed.

Sauna stoves

Tylö’s wood-fired sauna stoves have a unique heat-retaining design. The high quality is immediatelyevident from the weight and the thickness of thesteel that make our wood-fired heaters second tonone. The rear wall of the fire box is protected bya hot-air deflector for more efficient combustionand reduced wood consumption. And the materialstoo are the best possible: stainless steel, alu-zincsteel and sturdy structural steel.

Superb water vaporisation. Large, deep stone com-partments make these heaters a firm favouriteamong bathers who revel in the sizzlingly hot sensa-tion of water sprinkled over heated sauna stones.

Simple to use. Normally, stoking the fire just onceis enough to heat the air from +20°C to the desiredbathing temperature. Even when the fire has dieddown, water sprinkled on the sauna stones willstill quickly evaporate thanks to the patentedCoanda effect.

Large water tank. Tylö sauna stoves are also availablewith a stainless steel water tank. This fits safely insidethe mantle of the stove to the right or left of thefire-box, and has a large opening for easier filling.

Glass adds the finishing touch. All models (except theK-007) have a hatch of Ceram special-grade glass,which can withstand temperatures of up to 800°C.The fire casts a warm glow through the glass, creat-ing a wonderfully cosy atmosphere in the sauna.

All our wood-fired saunastoves have an ash hatch,grate shuttle and rear/top flueconnection options. Mostmodels are also available withthe water tank on the left-hand side, or with twin tanks.(Prices on request.) Please seethe next spread for details ofsuitable sauna stove chimneys.

The fine art of building a perfect sauna

Building a sauna is more complex than it sounds.Saunas need to be able to cope with both dry heatand clouds of moisture-laden steam. Tylö saunarooms are built for all kinds of bathing in all kindsof conditions – from searing high temperatures anda low relative humidity under 10% to the more tem-perate climate of a steam sauna with 60% humidityat around 50°C.

This makes great demands on the timber we choose,and that is why Tylö selects only the very finest quali-ties of spruce, aspen and American alder – just a fewexamples of the woods we use to make a Tylö sauna.

The picture shows a Diplomat 2520 sauna room, finishedoutside in heat-treated aspen and with inside walls in lightnatural aspen. Two glazed sections: 95 and 95 VENT, whichhas a vent and wall fitting for a sauna heater. The door isa DW-1 Aspen-TH model with a heat-treated outside finish.The matching sauna fittings are our 2520 series in solidAmerican alder.

Tylette CentreThis hydro-steam cabinet incorpo-rates the same generous functionsas the other models in the Tyletteprogramme – steam bath, tropicalcloudburst, water cascade, bodymassage and shower – but in anexciting, new design.

The elegantly curved, temperedglass front has a space-savingsliding door that can be fitted toopen left or right and gives a full60 cm access width. The cabinetmay be placed in a right- or left-hand corner, but it is not possibleto install it as a mirror imageof the layout shown here.

Two comfortable seats, one placedin the corner, are integrated intothe wall sections, and all the con-nections for water and electricity,together with the steam generatorare hidden behind the large mir-rored wall. The cabinet has deco-rative halogen lighting insideand out.
