SAS developed Vanguard Alloy Wear Plate to specifically meet the needs and challenges associated with extreme working environments. Vanguard is a water quenched, through-hardened, martensitic steel that is highly impact and abrasion resistant. The homogeneous hardness of Vanguard is achieved by its fine-grain microstructure, which is steadily cooled during its special quench and tempering process. Vanguard is also a very strong and tough wear plate due to its low phosphorus and sulphur content. The high hardness and strength of Vanguard allows it to outlast AR400 by 2 to 3 times. This allows a thinner, lighter weight liner plate to be utilized.

SAS Global Mining utilizes SA1750CR Chromium Carbide Overlay plate to create liner systems for your dozer blades. SA1750CR’s low coefficient of friction allows for a much faster push, which increases productivity. This smooth package also eliminates material hang-up on the blade surface. This allows the material to flow easily across the surface of the blade liner, which reduces fuel consumption. This reduction in fuel alone will generate very substantial savings.

SAS Global Mining Front End Loader Liner Systems are designed to provide a faster load and unload of the bucket. This is achieved by the utilization of SA1750CR Chromium Carbide Overlay Plate. SA1750CR plate has a very smooth surface that gets slicker with use and is highly abrasion resistant. This very smooth surface prevents material hang-up.

SAS Global Mining Shovel Bucket SA1750CR Liner Systems are designed to provide a faster load and unload of the bucket and reduce material hang-up. Complete rebuilds of your shovel buckets are also available from SAS Global.

The bucket below was shipped to SAS for inspection and rebuilding. Magnetic particle inspection was performed to identify cracks that were not readily discernible through visual inspection. The inside cheek, outer sidewall, and basket/scroll were stripped of the worn wear strips. The numerous worn wear strips were replaced with large, continuous plates of SA1750CR. This provided fewer seams for wear, enhanced material flow, and less material sticking to the bucket surface. In addition, the lip, vertical cutting edge, heel bands, bushings, and a four-inch section at the rear of the basket/scroll were removed and replaced. The rebuild was completed by replacing the worn bushings, and installing a new cast lip, teeth adapters and teeth.

The images below show the condition of the bucket when it arrived at SAS Global Headquarters prior to the rebuild, depicting various stages of rebuild and finally the finished bucket.
