The SAS Certified Data Scientist Using SAS®9 credential is awarded to candidates who have earned both of the following credentials:
• SAS Certified Big Data Professional Using SAS®9
• SAS Certified Advanced Analytics Professional Using SAS®9
To prepare for this credential exam, attend the SAS Academy for Data Science, a 12-week data science bootcamp. Candidates who already possess the skills covered in the big data and advanced analytics exams may take the exams without participating in the Academy.
SAS® Certified Advanced Analytics Professional Using SAS®9
Successful candidates should have experience in the following areas:
• Applying machine learning and predictive modeling techniques to big distributed and in-memory data sets.
• Pattern detection.
• Experimentation in business.
• Optimization techniques.
• Time series forecasting.
Candidates who earn this credential will be required to pass three exams. Select an exam to see the full content for each:
• Exam 1: Predictive Modeling Using SAS® Enterprise Miner™ 13*
• Exam 2: SAS Advanced Predictive Modeling
• Exam 3: SAS Text Analytics, Time Series, Experimentation and Optimization
SAS® Certified Statistical Business Analyst Using SAS®9: Regression and Modeling
Successful candidates for this exam should have the following experience:
• Analysis of variance.
• Linear and logistic regression.
• Preparing inputs for predictive models.
• Measuring model performance.
SAS® Certified Predictive Modeler Using SAS® Enterprise Miner™
Successful candidates for this exam should have at least one year of experience with data mining and at least six months experience using SAS Enterprise Miner, including familiarity with the predictive modeling enhancements and new functionalities available in SAS Enterprise Miner.
In addition, candidates should know how to do the following:
• Prepare data.
• Build predictive models.
• Assess models.
• Implement models.
Foundation
SAS® Certified Base Programmer for SAS®9
Successful candidates for this exam should have the following programming and data management experience:
• Import and export raw data files.
• Manipulate and transform data.
• Combine SAS data sets.
• Create basic detail and summary reports using SAS procedures.
• Identify and correct data syntax and programming logic errors.
SAS® Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS®9
Successful candidates for this exam should hold a SAS® Certified Base Programmer for SAS®9 credential and have current programming and data management experience using SAS®9 to:
• Write efficient SAS code to solve complex problems in accordance with system specifications, while minimizing use of computing resources.
• Use advanced DATA step programming statements and efficiency techniques.
• Write and interpret SAS SQL code.
• Use the SAS macro facility.
SAS® Certified Clinical Trials Programmer Using SAS®9
Successful candidates for this exam should have experience in:
• Clinical trials process.
• Accessing, managing and transforming clinical trials data.
• Statistical procedures and macro programming.
• Reporting clinical trials results.
• Validating clinical trials data reporting.
Advanced Analytics
SAS® Certified Data Scientist Using SAS®9
Designed for individuals who can:
• Manipulate and gain insights from big data with a variety of SAS and open source tools.
• Make business recommendations with complex machine learning models.
• Deploy models at scale using the flexible, robust SAS environment.
Business Intelligence
SAS® Certified BI Content Developer for SAS®9
Successful candidates for this exam should have experience with the SAS platform and the ability to demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to develop or implement the following:
• Business user reporting applications.
• Advanced reporting techniques and roles.
• Information maps.
• SAS BI Dashboard applications.
• Stored processes.
• Advanced techniques with SAS reports.
• Multidimensional (OLAP) data sources.
• Environment metadata.
SAS® Certified Visual Business Analysis: Exploration and Design Using SAS® Visual Analytics
Successful candidates for this exam should have experience using SAS Visual Analytics to explore data and create reports that provide concise, interactive and relevant data summaries. Candidate skills should include:
• Adding and manipulating data items within SAS Visual Analytics.
• Exploring data with SAS Visual Analytics Explorer.
Data Management
SAS® Certified Big Data Professional Using SAS®9
Successful candidates should be able to:
• Recognize and overcome big data challenges.
• Implement critical SAS programming techniques.
• Access, transform, and manipulate data.
• Improve data quality for reporting and analytics.
• Apply fundamental statistical techniques.
• Work with SAS, Hadoop and Hive.
• Explore and visualize data.

• Define the platform for SAS Business Analytics architecture.
• Create metadata for source data, target data and jobs.
• Work with transformations.
• Work with slowly changing dimensions.
• Define generated transformations.
• Deploy jobs.
SAS® Certified Data Quality Steward for SAS®9
Designed for individuals who are using DataFlux® Data Management Studio to perform a variety of data quality tasks including profiling data, cleansing data and monitoring data for usability. Successful candidates should be able to:
• Create and review data explorations and data profiles.
• Create data jobs for data improvement.
• Parameterize jobs and business rules within DataFlux Data Management Studio.
• Create, maintain and apply business rules and tasks.
• Understand the QKB components and various definition types.
• Apply QKB components to address data quality issues.
• Expand basic functionalities using Expression Engine Language (EEL).
• Use macro variables.
• Create process jobs.
• Configure the Data Management Server to run jobs.
Administration
SAS® Certified Platform Administrator for SAS®9
Successful candidates for this exam should have experience administering the SAS platform and the ability to demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to:
• Secure the SAS configuration on each server machine.
• Check status and operate servers.
• Monitor server activity and administer logging.
• Establish formal, regularly scheduled backup processes.
• Add users and manage their access.
• Establish connectivity to data sources.
• Set up and secure metadata folder structures.
• Administer repositories and move metadata.
