When you come to Paddlefest in Saratoga Springs, May 2 – 3, or Old Forge, May 15 – 17, all you have to do is enter the show and you’re standing in it. While our suppliers send their top reps., designers, builders, instructors and even company presidents and owners, Paddlefest is all about the ex-perience of shopping at Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company. Everything you see is from our inventory and all the people you see are there to help you select the best canoes, kayaks, SUPs, and accessories to fit your needs. Paddlefest is presented by Mountainman Out-door Supply Company, New York’s Largest Canoe and Kayak Dealer. We’ve been doing it since 1993!

Big changes at Adirondack Paddlefest! The “show” is moving!This year we’re making a big move! Test paddling and demonstrations will take place on the beach at Old Forge Pond, like it has in the past. But everything else is mov-ing just down State Road 28 to our Mountainman store locations, including all Canoe, Kayak, SUP, and Accessory booths. And all sales will take place at the store, as well.

Free AdmissionAdmission to Adirondack Paddlefest is free this year! As al-ways, a small test paddling fee is required, and is applicable to your boat purchase at Paddlefest.

How to Get the Most Out Of Paddlefest

Plan ahead and stay in touch! Read through this guide, check out the website, even better yet, checkout the Paddlefest Event pages at our Facebook page, Facebook.com/MountainmanOutdoors!

Attend at least two days There’s a lot to see and do! And if you’re going to test paddle, there’s a lot of boats to try out. Try to come for at least two days to give yourself time to try out as many as you like. You won’t feel rushed at the end of the day when it’s time to make a purchase decision.

Be prepared! The Boy Scouts were right, it’s best to be ready. Update New York is known for its fickle weather, so bring some rain gear. Are you going to test paddle? Bring the right clothing for paddling and some dry clothes to change into once you’re finished.

Planning on buying a boat? Great! But don’t forget the accessories (paddles, life jackets, etc.) and roof racks for your vehicle. If you know you’re going to be buy-ing a boat and will need a rack system, make sure you plan some time to talk to the rack vendors. There’s lots of options to consider. And you’ll need to plan time for us to install the rack for you. And all accessories are 15% off all weekend!

Kids Kayak Class Jeff and Laura Liebel ($20)In these introductory clinics children will be introduced to the safety and paddling basics – life jackets, getting in and out of a kayak, going forward, backward and easy turns. Then it’s on to the games where learning becomes fun as they will have races, tug of war and obstacle courses. Each session is limited to 6 children and there will be at least two instructors per session to ensure both safety and a high level of attention. We do ask that if your child is participating in one of these sessions that you have a dry change of clothes readily available as kids tend to find ways to get wet when they are having fun.

Adult Kayak Class: Novice and Advanced Jeff and Laura Liebel ($20)We’ll be splitting this class into two groups. The Novice Pad-dler Class: Are you a “never ever” or have just a few outings under your keel? The Pro model improves the design by finally accepting super-wide kayaks (now up to 36˝!).The kayak cradles now have 8 touch-points of padded support that cradle your kayak even more than before.

Dagger Roam 9.5 & 11.5

The Roam series blends Sit-On-Top simplicity with crossover versatility (skeg-assisted tracking when you want it, rockered hull for turning). The Roam series adds the ConTour Surround Seating System for total comfort, an upgraded foot brace system, drier hatches, and removable thigh straps for when you want a leisurely paddle vs. a performance one. It comes with a mesh storage bag and lots of clip-in points to manage your gear the way you want to.

Current Designs EquinoxCD reduced the length of their Solstice series by about a foot and a half (to 16 feet) and added in just a bit of rocker in order to make a more maneuverable craft while still maintaining the predictable, stable han-dling characteristics of their longer models. The Equinox comes in GT (24˝

wide) and GTS (22˝ wide) models, and are great all-arounders, well-suited for streams, longer day trips, or even relax-ing weekend overnighters.

Astral Designs V-EightAstral took the first high-back PFD in the market and made it even better. Astral reduced the height of the backpanel, filling it with more breathable mesh. They added hook and loop fasteners to the shoul-der pads to take up excess webbing from the adjustment straps, and added two large expanding mesh pockets
