2 nd Annual Saratoga County Safe Harbour/CSEC Summit Keynote Speaker: Annika Mack Annika Mack is originally from Denver, Colorado and is now a resident of California. As a teen, Ms. Mack survived the violent crime of human trafficking, homelessness, and was a runaway. In 2016 she showed incredible strength and courage by testifying against her trafficker. He was convicted on fifteen felony counts and has been sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. Today she has a passion to help others and has overcome many obstacles with hopes of changing the world around her. Ms. Mack has trained many organizations such as hospitals, tattoo shops, and hotels how to notice signs of human trafficking and what they can do to help. Annika is also part of a documentary with UpRez media that is likely to premiere in fall 2017. She is one of twelve survivors on the CSEC action team and the CSEC advisory board for the state of California which helps create policies for youth that have been sexually exploited. She believes strongly in this quote by Harriet Tubman, "Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." Ms. Mack has the strength, patience, and passion. She is reaching for the stars and changing the world. Annika Mack is originally from Denver, Colorado and is now a resident of California. As a teen, Ms. Mack survived the violent crime of human trafficking, homelessness, and was a runaway. Session 1, Track 1:

Pride Center of the Capital Region: " Meeting the Needs of LGBTQ Survivors " This workshop provides an overview of sexual orientation and gender identity and the unique experiences of LGBTQ survivors of sex trafficking. Participants will explore foundations in creating safer practices to ensure that services are equipt to provide comprehensive opportunities and healing for LGBTQ survivors.

Session 1, Track 2:

Panel Presentation: "Collaborating with Capital Region Agencies to Combat Trafficking and CSEC" This workshop is a panel presentation comprised of representatives from the following agencies and organizations: CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services, St. Anne Institute, The Charlton School, Saratoga County Probation, La Salle School, and the Saratoga County Children Services (Foster Care Unit). The agencies and organizations will discuss their various roles, the type of vulnerable and at-risk youth susceptible to trafficking and CSEC. The variation of non-governmental agencies, nonprofits, county government will demonstrate their collaborative effort in working to identify, address, and deal with the problem of trafficking and CSEC in and around Saratoga County.

Annika Mack Workshop: "It's Not Just A Big City Issue; Understanding Trafficking and CSEC in Rural Communities" This workshop will focus on understanding what trafficking and CSEC looks like in rural communities, risk factors for youth, barriers to service intervention, how youth become involved in trafficking situations, and how communities can respond to this horrible issue. Annika will help workshop attendees understand the culture of trafficking and how best to aid youth involved in a CSEC situation. She is a survivor of human trafficking who uses her past experiences to help others understand the scope of trafficking in the United States. Hear more details about her personal journey.

Session 2, Track 2:

Case Review Workshop: "Critical Team Response / Lessons Learned " In this workshop you will hear from team members that encountered a 16 year old runaway who was being trafficked here in Saratoga County. The team will share what went well as well as what could have been done differently. Agencies providing input will be: Saratoga Springs Police Dept., Saratoga Springs City Court, Saratoga County District Attorney's Office, GEMS and a Victim Advoccate
