SAP Solution Manager

A Brief Overview

Purpose

The SAP Solution Manager is a platform which provides integrated support of the life-cycle of a business solution, from the Business Blueprint via configuration to production operation. The SAP Solution Manager provides central access to tools, methods and preconfigured contents, which you can use during the evaluation and implementation, as well as in operation processing of your systems.

The SAP Solution Manager also provides an authoring function, with which you can create your own project templates, which you reuse in an implementation. The SAP Solution Manager is thus also a tool for SAP partners and companies performing a global rollout.

You can manage and monitor systems and business processes in your solution landscape in operational processing. You can set-up and run your own solution support with the SAP Solution Manager.

Supporting evaluation and implementation

The SAP Solution Manager supports you in all phases of the evaluation and implementation. You can perform the following activities in an evaluation and implementation project with the Solution Manager:

Project Preparation: Define Project, Define System Landscape Create Business Blueprint: Evaluate business processes, describe

business scenarios and business processes in the Business Blueprint

Realization: Configure, compare and distribute customizing, setup test system, organize tests

The Solution Manager also supports cross-project functions: Project analyses Call a Roadmap which leads you through a project step-by-

step Various user roles are delivered with the SAP Solution Manager.

This allows a project team member to logon for the implementation project in the role assigned to him, and its authorizations, and only perform his own project tasks

Tools for implementing mySAP and creating templates The SAP Solution Manager gives you central access to the tools which you

need to implement your business solution. These include: the Roadmap, which leads you through all phases of the implementation the Project Administration, with which you can manage planning schedules, human

resources and other project data a working environment for creating the Business Blueprint, in which you can select the

business processes you need and specify the project scope Business Configuration Sets (BC Sets), with which preconfiguration can be imported

into systems and documented the implementation guide (IMG), with which you can customize the selected business

processes the Customizing Scout, with which you can compare customizing in selected

mySAP.com components with customizing in SAP R/3 the Customizing Scout, with which you can synchronize customizing in mySAP.com

components with customizing in SAP R/3 the Test Workbench, with which you can organize tests at the end of a project phase the project analysis An authoring environment, with which customers and partners can create their own

templates, is delivered with the Solution Manager. Partners can use this authoring environment to:

add your own expertise to the pre-configuration and documentation which SAP delivers create materials for evaluation and implementation which are specifically tailored for your customers

Customers can use this authoring environment to:save pre-configuration and documentation centrally create a template which can, for example, be passed on to subsidiaries in a global rollout.

SAP Solution Manager features and functions mySAP Business Suite implementation -- SAP Solution Manager provides content that

accelerates implementation. Configuration information and a process-driven approach to implementation speed the blueprint, configuration, and final preparation phases. SAP Solution Manager enables efficient project administration and centralized control of cross-component implementations.

Global rollout -- The toolset eases process standardization and harmonization across organizations and locations by providing proven methodologies and all necessary functionality. You can more easily implement standardized settings at local sites, because configuration settings needn't be re-entered into local components.

Synchronization of custom settings -- With SAP Solution Manager, you can maintain consistency as you customize your heterogeneous IT environment. It enables safer administration of customization, less error-prone replication of custom settings, and simpler consistency checks. SAP Solution Manager reduces manual synchronization efforts by automatically distributing custom settings to various systems simultaneously, and by centrally managing all requests to synchronize settings.

Testing -- SAP Solution Manager speeds test preparation and execution. It provides a single point of access to the complete system landscape and enables centralized storage of testing material and test results to support cross-component tests.

IT and application support -- The support desk included in SAP Solution Manager helps you manage incidents more efficiently and eases the settlement of support costs. Centralized handling of support messages makes the support organization more efficient.

Solution monitoring -- SAP Solution Manager performs centralized, real-time monitoring of systems, business processes, and interfaces, which reduces administration effort. It can even monitor intersystem dependencies. Proactive monitoring helps you avoid critical situations, while automatic notifications enable fast response to issues.

Service-level management and reporting -- SAP Solution Manager allows easy definition of service levels and provides automated reporting. Service reporting covers all systems in the solution landscape and provides a consolidated report containing the information you need to make strategic IT decisions.

Service processing -- SAP Solution Manager makes appropriate service recommendations and delivers SAP support services. These include SAP Safeguarding, which helps you manage technical risk; SAP Solution Management Optimization, which helps you get the most from your SAP solutions; and SAP Empowering, which helps you manage your solutions.

Functions in operational processing

The SAP Solution Manager provides services and checks for operational processing:

Services: use remote SAP services and monitor their status

Solutions: set-up solutions and business processes, create and monitor issues, get an overview of the complete solution, manage service levels

system monitoring and administration business process monitoring software changes: Best Practice documents and

software change management services integrated message processing for your internal

support organization and extended remote support by SAP

Organization Structure

Click on Business Blueprint as shown, or

Transaction Code- Solar01

Step 1: Check whether you are in the appropriate project, if not follow step 2

Step 2: if not click on as shown here and select the appropriate project

Under project we can see three default level

-Organizational Units

-Master Data

-Business Scenario

Click on the Organization level on the left hand side and

select the Project Documentation tab on right hand side

Click on the add button as shown here by arrow and

Upload the Module specific Organization document

Eg. PP Org Document (which may be PPT, PDF etc)

1. Once the module specific document is attached then click on the Structure Tab as shown

2. Enter the Organization elements manually or from Business Process repository (by clicking F4)

3. save it

1. Click on the Organizational Elements eg. Plant and project documentation tab on your right hand side

2. At this level we should keep the document relevant to that organizational units eg. list of plants, names etc.

Master Data

1. Click on the master data on the left hand side

And select the Project documentation tab

2. At this level we will keep the module specific master data document

1. Click on the structure tab

2. Enter the master record name manually or you can add from Business process Repository

Eg. Material Master

3. Save it

1. Click on the Material master and project documentation tab on the right hand side

2. You Should keep the document relevant for the master data record

Eg. document related to material master

Business Scenario

1. Click on the Business Scenario and Structure Tab

2. Enter the name of scenario in the column as shown

3. save it

For each scenario there are three Default level

-Organizational Units

-Master Data

-Business Processes

1. Click on the Business Processes and select the structure tab as shown

2. Enter the Process name here

3. Save it

2. Enter the Process Steps for the corresponding process

3. Save it

1. Click on the step 1 and select the transaction tab

2. Add the transaction object as shown here

1. Click on process on the left hand side and Project documentation tab on the right hand side

2. At this level we are going to keep the Finalized To-Be process document (CI-template)

Add Administrative information on the administration tab at each level, Scenario, Process and Process Step

# Select the Configuration tab page and at the Module level, eg. Production planning attach the configuration document.

Steps are as follows :

Upload the test cases:

# Go the test cases tab page

# At the process level upload the test cases as shown in the following screen.

First we will have to create the Test plan and under that we will have to create the Test Packages.Test package is the subset of Test plan.

Test Plan ( eg. Test plan for MM)Test Packages (eg. Procurement to Pay–Leaf )

Go to transaction STWB_2 as shown here.

Press the Create button as shown here.

Select the project

Give the test plan title

And select the Copy transaction

We can see here the same structure which was created in Business blueprint.

Here select the scope of the test plan.

Eg. MM test plan- selected all processes of MM module.

# Press the generate Test plan button,save it as Local object

After this we will create the Test packages for the Test plan created

# Select the Test plan created

(press the small square left to the test plan name, and test plan name will appear in Blue as shown here)

# Then Click on the Test packages as shown here

Select the Test plan and press the create test packages.

Select the Test case from the structure and press the generate button

Test package creation criteria,

Test packages should be created such that there will be one owner (Tester) of the test package as far as Testing is concerned.

eg You can create the Test packages as per the Tester.

Test Package 1-consist of all processes tested by Tester 1.

Test Package 2-Consist of all processes tested by tester 2.

Give the Test package name. And save it as local object

Select the test packages and choose the tester as shown.

We can assign the multiple tester for test packages.

Now we will see how the testing will be carried out.

Go to transaction code STWB_Work

Tester can see here the Test packages assigned

Select the Test package

Down Load the Test case , carry testing and note down the result into the Test case ( eg. Document number),

For upload the same test case with results, Pls see the Next Slide.

Status of test case should be maintained as follows,

Press the button shown here.

Press the F4 on the status and choose the appropriate status of test case.

Following status should be maintained•Not Tested•Testing•Tested Ok•Error

We can see here the Status of test case.

For analyzing the status of all test plan of Project go to the Transaction SOLAR_EVAL

Select the Project Status Analysis

Here we can see the overall status of all the test plan and test packages.
