The documentation set for SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office, comprises the following guides and online help products:

TipThe guides and tutorials are regulary updated and enhanced. Make sure that you have the latest version by checking the SAP Help Portal and SAP Community Network on a regular basis.

Administrator Guide

The Administrator Guide contains detailed information that a user needs to install, configure and administer the edition for Microsoft Office. The guide is available on the SAP Help Portal.

User Guide

The User Guide contains the conceptual information, procedures and reference material that a user needs to create and analyze Microsoft Excel workbooks and Microsoft PowerPoint slides with the edition for Microsoft Office. The guide is available on the SAP Help Portal.

Online Help

The online help contains the same information as the User Guide. It can be called by pressing the Help button in the Setting group on the Analysis tab. To access context sensitive help, move the mouse cursor to a field in the ribbon and select F1. For dialogs, you can access context sensitive help by selecting F1 when the dialog is open.

What's New Guide

The What's New guide for SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office, provides a complete list of the new and modified features for SAP BusinessObjects Analysis since the previous release. The guide is available on the SAP Help Portal.

eLearning Tutorials

The tutorials show you how to use SAP BusinessObjects Analysis. They give you a quick introduction to different features so that you can learn the basics of working with the Add-In. You can find more detailed information on the features listed below in the User guide for SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office.

Creating and administrating workbooks

You can store workbooks to the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform XI 4.1.

With this platform, you can save Analysis objects as Analysis Workbook and Analysis Presentation. If you open these objects from the BI launch pad, Analysis is started automatically and the data sources are connected.

Refreshing data sources

With the Refresh All icon in the ribbon, you can now refresh the data sources regulary with data from the server.

With the property Reset Data Source on Opening Workbook on the Components tab in the design panel, you can define that the initial state of a query or query view defined in the BEx Query Designer, will be displayed when you open a workbook.

Access Mode for member display

With the access mode, you can define which members of a dimension are dispayed in the in the crosstab or in the Filter by Member dialog. The access mode is only available if you select the check box Allow Access Mode to be Changed in the Advanced Settings dialog.

Calling the BEx Query Designer

You can call the Query Designer from Analysis to check the definition of a query and to change it according to your needs.

New and changed features in Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office 1.4

Inserting waterfall charts

You can display data of one key figure in a vertical or horizontal waterfall chart. Waterfall charts are specialised bar charts consisting of an initial and final state and delta values showing the changes between the start and end state.

Working with formulas

The function SAPGetUniformScaling is new. It returns the unit/scaling information for a specific dimension member combination.

Working with macros

The following API methods are changed/enhanced with release 1.4:

● SAPExecuteCommandThe command RefreshData is new.

Working with hierarchies

The different versions of an hierarchy for a dimension are now displayed in the design panel with the version number available in brackets after the hierarchy name.

For time-dependent hierarchies, you can specify wether all time-dependent hierarchies for a dimension should be available in the design panel or only the hierarchy for a selected period. To display all time-dependent hierarchies for a dimension, select the Show All Time-Dependent Hierarchies in Analysis Tab check box in the Advanced Settings dialog.

Additionally, you can activate and deactivate hierarchies in the design panel to switch between hierarchical and flat presentation.

Creating web applications

You can transfer components in an Analysis workbook to the SAP BusinessObject Design Studio to create a web application. You can then modify the web application with the design studio.

Supported BI Platforms

SAP BusinessObjects Analysis 1.4 supports SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform 4.1. If you use the 4.1 platform with Analysis 1.4, Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 or 3.5 must be installed on the client PC.

Available Settings

The following settings are new:

● ShowQueryDesigner to define if the 'Call Query Designer' icon should be displayed in the ribbon tools group.

With SP1, the following changes and modifications are available in Analysis 1.4.

Working with formulas

The function SAPListOfMembers has a new parameter: Count. You can use it to specify the number of members that is returned by the formula.

Filtering data

You can filter for one member directly in the crosstab with a double-click on the respective member cell.

This function can be enabled/disabled with the registry setting EnableDoubleClick.

Filtering Data by Member

If a dimension is selected that has more members than defined in the User settings, the filter dialog for mass data is opened. In this dialaog, you initially see the selected members, but you can add all other members of the dimension using hte input help.

The filter dialog for mass data can be disabled with the registry setting EnableMassDataSelector.

Configuration for SAP HANA

To use a local HANA connection, you have to enable SSO in the Windows ODBC Data Source Administrator.

Scheduling

You can schedule Analysis workbooks to automatically run at specified times in BI Launch Pad and Central Management Console.

To enable scheduling, the Analysis BI platform Add-On must be installed.

With SP5, the following changes and modifications are available in Analysis 1.4.

Defining Style Sets for Crosstabs.

The SAP standard style SAPEmphasizedTotal is new. It is applied to all new workbooks and can be added manually to existing workbooks.

Advanced Settings

The following settings are changed:

● Show 'Call Query Designer' in Tools Group and Enable Data Source Reset is renamed to Show 'Launch Query Designer' in Tools Group. The context menu entry Reset Data Source is now always enabled.

● Allow Access Mode to be Changed is renamed to Show Access Mode for Member Display.

On the Infomation tab in the design panel, you can now see the BEx conditions as part of the filter section.

Configuring the Analysis Add-In Launcher

New parameter: UseRunningProcess to start the Analysis Add-In using an Microsoft Excel process that is already running.

New parameter: BiSharedAddinLauncher.exe /app XLS /CreateProcess starts the Analysis Add-In using a new process if Microsoft Excel 2013 is already running.

Editing Short Texts in Queries

Using short texts in queries, you now have the option of writing your own short texts as comments in Analysis, or selecting or modifying characteristic values as classification.

Advanced Settings

The advanced settings are now described in the list of available settings to be defined in the registry.

Platform Settings

The Setting System Replacement is new. You can use it to replace a system used in a workbook.

You can now enter prompt values in the BI Launch Pad when scheduling a workbook.

Caching documents

With Caching, you can store copies of frequently used documents, Analysis workbooks and presentations, on a local client machine for quick access. It can be used for documents that are stored on a SAP NetWeaver server.

Documents can be cached if they are opened from Analysis and if they are launched from a BW system.

Working with Macros: Performance Impovement.

In the API methods SAPSetFilter, SAPSetVariable and SAPSetPlanParameter, you can use the new member format LITERAL. With this value format, no immediate validation with the back-end system is executed to improve the performance.

The formula SAPGetMember can return the internal key for members which is needed for the use of member format LITERAL.

The API method SAPCallMemberSelector has a new selector type: FILTER_NEW_LINES. With this selector type, you can call a selector with member access mode P (Planning).

The API method SAPLogOff is now available in Analysis 1.4. You can use it to disconnect a workbook from the server or to restart the connection to the system.

Available Settings

The setting ShowDSVariantsForWorkbooksWithOneDS is new. You use this setting to specify the mode for the prompting dialog when you open a document from the NetWeaver server that contains exactly one data source.

End of Maintenance

The end of maintenance for release 1.4 is planned for mid 2016. SP 16 is one of the latest updates for this release.

Therefore we recommend you to plan the upgrade to release Analysis 2.2.
