We also hope to be able to send a groupof missionaries in December ( December

5-8 tentative)

Welcome to our April issue of the Santa Elena Newsletter. We hope youare getting use to this new format that allows us to put the elements of the

newsletter directly into the email. The new format is also allowing us tosend the newsletter on a more frequent basis as well as making it a bit

shorter each time..

As you browse your way through the newsletter you will see that eventhough we can't have boarding students yet, we are finding ways to

support and love the Tarahumara commnity thanks to the dedication andcommittment of our missionaries Manolo and Rayito. They have been

working overtime to make sure that the students who can come for dailyschoolwork have what they need including spiritual and economic

support.

Rayito and Manolo are giving 150% of their time and love to the kids andthe Tarahumara community and they need us to do the same. If you have

been a past donor and have stopped sending funds for Santa Elena, please consider resuming or increasing your donations. We need you to

love and support the work at the mission. If you've never made amonetary committment to Santa Elena we hope you will consider doing sonow. Perhaps using a portion of your stimulus check to spread the relief alittle farther. You can mail a check to Santa Elena Mission, CUMC, 220 Junction Rd, Ruidoso, NM 88345. Or go to the CUMC online Giving siteto make your contribution: https://ruidosocumc.org/giving/. Please make

sure in either case to mark your donation for Santa Elena Mission. Thanks so much for your love and your help.

Roswell Altrusa Club donates $1000toward literacy library for Santa Elena

The Santa Elena Steering Committee has accepted a gift of funds to start aliteracy library at the Santa Elena Mission. The gift was offered by the RoswellAltrusa Club in the amount of $1000 toward the purchase of books and shelvingfor the library which will be housed at the mission.

Altrusa is an international non-profit organization making our local communitiesbetter through leadership, partnership, and service. The club offers anopportunity to make a real difference in their own communities and undertakesa variety of service, literacy, fundraising and international projects each year.Altrusa members are from varying occupations and lifestyles, all sharing aninterest in community service and enjoying the friendship, fun and satisfactionthat comes from working together for the benefit of others.

The Santa Elena Steering Committee is very greatful for Roswell Altrusa's giftwhich they hope will be the foundation for a growing collection of readingmaterials for the Tarahumara community that go far beyond textbooks andrequired reading materials.

Manolo (co-director at Santa Elena and a talented carpenter) has purchasedlumber to begin building shelves for the library, and is also working onpurchasing books for the collection. We will share pictures of his progress andthe actual opening of the library in a future newsletter.

And yes, you can add your donation to this new project. For the time beingyour donations should be monetary since we cannot go to Santa Elena on amission trip which is the only way for us to get book donations to the Mission. You can send a check for the Santa Elena Mission Library to CUMC, 220Junction Road, Ruidosos, NM 88345. Or visit the CUMC website and use theOnline Giving site there. Please make sure your mark your donation "SantaElena Mission Library".
