art?... ingest it! Being a mind-ful artist Jeffrey Alan Daniels, the owner and brewmaster of Jun & Son Fermented Biotics, is creating an ornamented and layered bev-erage for the serious connoisseur, rather than a one dimensional beverage. 10 Ways to Repurpose Your Content

If you’ve explored marketing strategies your small business, chances are very good that you’ve come across content marketing. Content, whether blog posts, videos, a podcast, a case study or simply strategic use of social media, is an effective, powerful way to reach your target audience without spending a lot of money.

But creating content is just the beginning. Once you have a piece of content, you need to pro-mote it and, if you’re smart, repurpose it to get the most reach and traction out of each piece.

What does it mean to repurpose content? It means that the blog post you published last week can be made into a short video this week, an Instagram story or LinkedIn post next week, and a case study next month. See how that works? Rather than starting from scratch with each piece of content, you repurpose existing content for all of your platforms and channels. Here are 10 ways to repurpose your content to get the most reach and impact.

1. Blog Post

Blog posts are often the first thing that comes to mind when people think of content mar-keting. Companies of all sizes, from one-per-son startups to global brands, use blog posts to reach their target audience and strengthen their brand. Blog posts are a good place to start if you’re just dipping your toes in the content mar-keting world. They can be produced without a lot of technical know-how or equipment, they’re easily digested and shared by readers, and they can act as foundational pieces for a lot of other content types.

2. Social Media Micro Posts

Social media is a great vehicle, not just for link-ing to content, but for creating content, as well.

For instance, you can create micro posts that provide valuable resources, stories or informa-tion in your Instagram feed and Facebook posts. These micro posts can be synopses or key points from existing blog posts or other content.

3. LinkedIn

Don’t forget about LinkedIn as a powerful way to promote your content. You can link to exist-ing content, but what’s even better is to create or repurpose existing content for the platform. You can either share this repurposed content in a post or publish on LinkedIn’s publishing plat-form.

4. Case Study

If you have a blog post, testimonial, or video of someone sharing their experience of your prod-uct or service, consider repurposing that into a case study. You can then share it on your website to demonstrate the success and satisfaction of your customers.

5. Podcast

Podcasts are red hot right now. If you have a podcast of your own, be sure to repurpose top-ics you’ve covered on other platforms, such as your blog. If you don’t have a podcast, ask to be a guest on a popular podcast whose audience is aligned with yours. You can talk about a partic-ularly hot topic you’ve linked to or created con-tent around.

6. Photo Essay

If you hold a particularly momentous, fun, or well-attended event, don’t just share your pho-tos on social media. Consider creating a photo essay with a bit of commentary on your blog, or even in a video.

7. Digital Download

Repurpose a popular blog post into a digital download, such as a pdf, that you can offer vis-

itors to your website. This works particularly well for valuable resource posts, checklists and other printables, and can be used to collect emails for your newsletter and/or email market-ing campaigns.

8. Video

It’s getting easier and easier to create and share high-quality video. Consider the ways you can repurpose blog posts, social media shares, pho-tos and more into video. From short interviews and fun overviews of events to informational videos and explainers, videos are an easy-to-consume type of content.

9. SlideShare

If you put together a really fantastic presen-tation, consider sharing it on SlideShare. A platform that allows you to share, embed and search for slide presentations, SlideShare is an under-utilized way to reach specific audiences.

10. Live Video

If you’re feeling brave, consider repurposing content into live video. On your video, you can simply talk about the content and refer peo-ple to it, or rework points from the content in a way that works for video. Live video can be a bit nerve-wracking, but viewers are far more forgiving than they are with produced video, and they appreciate the glimpse into the human aspect of your business.

When you create content, be strategic about how you can repurpose it. You’ve taken the time to create something, now get creative and find ways to get as much impact and reach from it as possible. n

HOWEY FORECLO-SURE OFFICER FOR SALE INFORMATION: www.nationwideposting.com, or (916) 939-0772 NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bid-ding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not au-tomatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the high-est bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title in-surance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these re-sources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been post-poned, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call or visit this Internet Web site: www.nationwideposting.com or call: (916) 939-0772, using the file number assigned to this case (see File No). Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale.NPP0336381 To: SANTA CRUZ RECORD 07/24/2018, 07/31/2018, 08/07/2008 n

Your allowance was never enough, as a kid.

Oh, sure, it bought you what you needed but what you wanted, well, you had to figure that out yourself. A dime here, a dollar there, little chores-for-pay, tasks for Grandma and you made it work. And as you’ll see in the new book, “Gigged” by Sarah Kessler, some things never change.

Back in 2011, when she was a reporter for a tech blog, Sarah Kessler became aware of a new start-up that utilized non-traditional workers in non-traditional ways. It was called Uber, and its business concept seemed unusual; having grown up in rural Wis-consin, Kessler had no frame of refer-ence, and she paid it little heed.

Eventually, though, she began to see that the model Uber was using – modified in so many ways – was being used for a lot of start-ups and could, potentially, benefit a lot of people. Was this gig economy really the way of the future?

It had been around awhile: in the early 1970s, Kelly Girls were available for temp work; becoming a Kelly Girl was advertised as a way to pay for

life’s extras. But, no surprise, research showed then – as it does now – that temp working and gig economy jobs

are taken more as a way to make ends meet.

Intrigued, Kessler began following a few people who paid the bills with a string of non-tradi-tional jobs they took for a variety of rea-sons: not fitting into a 9-to-5, not enough education, desiring entrepreneurship, not enough local opportunities. The people that Kessler profiled were

young and tech-savvy (or learning) but not so mobile. Their backgrounds varied, as did their races; in other words, they fit in with the av-erage gig worker, the numbers of which “grew 47-fold between 2012 and 2015.”

While gig-working did, indeed, pay the bills for Kessler’s subjects, she also learned that it was not all good. Yes, there was “independence, flexibility, and freedom” but at what price? For workers, it offered often-low pay, few-to-no benefits, and no safety net. For employers, it saved money, but the has-sles were daunting and “churn” could churn one’s stomach...

So is this “what the future might look like,” as author Sarah Kessler says? In “Gigged,” she offers some tantalizing

clues and more than one caveat. For anyone who’s stuffed envelopes for

pennies, or wondered if there’s real cash to be made gigging, this book sets it straight: Kessler’s subjects made money but it was hard, hard work and none of them are still gig-economy workers. Recommendations are sparse. That says a lot.

For business owners, it’s more com-plicated: temp workers and small tasks seem to go hand-in-hand, but Kessler outlines many laws and rules that might make your head rotate like a spin mop. And, as it appears, further legislation is coming…

Readers would be correct in assuming that we haven’t heard the final word on this subject. Change occurs frequently. In the meantime, “Gigged” is interest-ing, informative, and timely - and until the dust has settled, that’ll have to be enough. n

“The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of peo-ple have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entre-

preneur is a doer, not a dreamer.”
