Sangfor HCI 5.8.3 New Features Demo Guidance
VMware Management
After login the HCI management platform, you can see vCenter in the center of the
homepage. From the numbers displayed here, you’ll get a basic summary of vSphere
status (from the screenshot below, we can see 1 vCenter and 5 VMs running in the
VMware environment)
Click on the number of VMs, you’ll be directed to the VM page. On this page, you’re
able to view VMs that are running on vSphere, the UI is the same as VMs on HCI.
Click on New, you can deploy new VMs on vSphere based on existing VM templates.

Click on the VM, the homepage of this VM will be shown. You can do some basic
operations on the VM like go to the console, reboot or suspend the VM, power on/off
the VM, etc,.

Click on Migrate to Sangfor HCI, a window will be popped up, you can select the
destination and click next to configure the network settings, then click OK to proceed
the migration. The same procedure applies to VM migration from Sangfor HCI to
VMware vCenter.

Migration process and speed will be displayed.

VMware Backup & Restore
Click on the backup tab, 2 backup types can be executed, manual backup and
scheduled backup.
Click on backup for manual backup, choose the destination datastore and click OK
to proceed.
For scheduled backup, click on scheduled backup, you can either apply an existing
scheduled backup policy to the VM or create a new backup policy.

Click on New Backup Policy, you can set up a new scheduled backup policy step by
step.
After backup is done, you can view backup versions on the same page. Click on a
specific backup version and click recover, you can instantly recover this VM on HCI.

Continuous Data Protection (CDP)
Only VMs running on Sangfor HCI can be enabled with CDP. First of all, a CDP policy
needs to be set up. Go to System->VM backup and recovery, click on New CDP Policy.
You can set up a new CDP policy in 5 steps.

After the CDP policy is set up, you can apply this policy to VMs. After that, CDP will
be enabled to continuously protect the VMs.

After CDP is running for a while, you can browse all the recovery points and backup
points in a timeline display.
Clicking on any point will lead you to the IO logs at that specific time point.

Click recover to instantly recover the VM at that specific time point.
For Windows-based VMs which support FAT32 and NTFS, files can be browsed and
downloaded instantaneously.
