on the first Friday of every month. All are welcome to
join us in worshiping our Lord.
Devotions
The faith/belief mentioned in both the second reading in
both second reading and gospels allude to our self-
surrender at baptism which begins a life lived as
followers of Christ. Even more: at baptism we are
plunged into Christ’s death so that we might rise to new
life with him. This dying and rising mystery is the
paschal mystery. Through it we are joined to Christ in
his work of salvation. The paradox of the paschal
mystery s that what we abhor—the cross—becomes the
instrument of redemption. God saves the Israelites from
death but in the paschal mystery we must embrace
death, for the only way to eternal Life is by dying to
ourselves, by allowing ourselves to be lifted up like
Christ. Our good works ( reaching out to others, doing
our daily tasks with love and care, acting justly and
charitably, etc.), then, are our way of being “lifted.”
This is how we are crucified, so that we might live. This
gospel, coming in the middle of Lent ( this is
traditionally called “Laetare” Sunday), is a reminder of
what Lent is truly about, and indeed, what our whole
Christian living is about. There are only three weeks of
Lent left. Now is the time to renew our resolve to
embrace dying to self that we might truly rise with
Christ in joy and Life on Easter.

And finally, what are all the cards about? Each index card hanging in the
gathering space represents one of the over 1,350 young people registered in St. Margaret of Scotland parish. All RE, Confirmation students, as well as
SMOS students who attend CTT and MAA were invited to put their name on
a card. If we still managed to miss inviting your Kindergarten through high school-aged young person to participate, you can find a basket with blank
cards in the gathering space. The colored cards are for children grade 2 and younger, and the white cards are for children grade 3 and older. Simply add
their first name, grade, and return the card to the basket. We ask our parish
community to please pray daily for the children of our parish. Next weekend you will find out more about this project.
Social Justice … conversion is a lifelong process. And, it is not undertaken alone.
It occurs with the support of the whole believing community,
through baptism, common prayer, and our daily efforts, large and
small, on behalf of justice. As a Church, we must be people after
God's own heart, bonded by the Spirit, sustaining one another in
love, setting our hearts on God's kingdom, committing ourselves to
solidarity with those who suffer, working for peace and justice, act-
ing as a sign of Christ's love and justice in the world.

Your Faith Has Made You Well
Wednesday, May 20th 9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Nationally known author, speaker and retreat leader, Barbara
Hosbach (Paulist Press) returns to Jesus House in May 2015 to dis-
cuss her new book, Y our Faith Has Made Y ou Well, and to lead us
through the New Testament in a Scriptural pursuit of insight into the
healing events of Jesus. With a degree in Psychology, Barbara put
her Catholic Faith on the back burner as she pursued a career in
social services. But along the way, Barbara came to terms with her
own sense of helplessness when injuries sustained in a car crash
and a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, brought her to her knees This
new, unplanned path led Barbara back to her Catholic faith where
she was able to see the hand of God in all that had happened to her
and discovered that joy does not always depend on happiness. In
fact, Barbara began to realize that painful times bear fruit, that God
lovingly accepted her fumbling attempts to follow His will and that
this journey, on which we all must embark, does not end this side of
Heaven! Join us for this enlightening and
Spirit filled day of discovery!

Bring It Home March 15, 2015
Our readings remind us that the Son of Man be lifted up, that
whoever believes in him may have eternal life. Take the
Scriptures and Bring It Home by giving up forty seconds
throughout this week to lift up the Lord’s name… In discus-
sions of faith with one another, in conversations with others,
and in personal prayer offered aloud. Can we speak of God,
or Jesus, of the Lord, on forty different occasions this week?
Both St. Patrick and St. Joseph, saints we celebrate this week,
did this. Can we?

Are you Being Called to God?
In today’s second reading, St. Paul reminds the Ephe-

women and men find that mercy through the ministry of

healthy Catholic man who thinks God might be calling
you to priesthood, let’s talk. Call or write Father David
Kelley, Diocesan Director of Priestly and Religious Vo-
cations (302-573-3113; [email protected]). Be sure
