PARISHNEWS!Life in Christ Christus Vivit !
Padre Juan Luis Gomez!
“Christus Vivit” is the postsynod apostolic exhortation by Pope Francis, which translates into “Chris Lives”. Pope
Francis, enlightened by the Holy Spirit, is telling us the true way to meet the risen Jesus Christ who is life for every
Christian. Now through exhaustive work on the World Youth Days in Brazil, Poland, Panama, to name a few of the
most recent ones, young people from all over the world are invited to answer many questions of what their !
conception of the Catholic church was like, whether she was very distant or like an old woman or very young, and
there were several answers that motivated Pope Francis to present us with this beautiful exhortation titled Christus
Vivit. It is an exhortation addressed to all the young people of the world and to all the people of God, where from the
Word of God he tries to answer some of the youths’ questions. !
I do not want to conduct an analysis of the exhortation, but rather an invitation to read it and to enrich ourselves with
the simplicity and humility of the words of Pope Francis expressed to all his readers so that it may be a light and
strength to all. This exhortation contains nine chapters in which it opens up a picture of the difDiculties that many
young people experience in today's world, their joys, hopes and their projects. So many young people who today !
encounter questions and no answers, but that these can be found from an approach to God through the person of !
Jesus Christ young, who helps us to live more securely than we believe or crave, if we put it as a center of our after
lives. He has a project for each of us and does not leave us alone, but joins us in our walk and illuminates our paths. !
Our life makes sense from The perspective of Christ, when you see them close. We can Dind in this exhortation a !
perfect way not to get lost. We are heirs of the Kingdom, we are not of this world, but we are in this world where we
must take care not to dehumanize ourselves, but from our humanity we come to meet with divinity; discover that we
are called, that we have a vocation and a space to work for the good of others.!
At the end of the exhortation, without taking down the importance of the whole document, I liked this phrase by Pope
Francis: "Run attracted towards that much beloved face, which we worship in Sacred Scripture and which we !
recognize in the Dlesh of the suffering brother."!
Although our life seems to be lost within family, social and cultural situations, we can always be attracted to the face
of Jesus that many men, women, and young people of the world have found and their lives have changed, because no
one resists that face where love manifests itself and to which we all seek; a love that, if you Dind it, you will never want
to separate from Him and from the One you will always want more, because it will never hurt you. On the contrary, it
will heal your wounds caused and provoked by sadness and misunderstandings.!
Sadly, the young people today are the furthest from the Eucharist. They resist it because they Dind no meaning in it,
although they were often brought up and compelled to attend the Sacred Liturgy. But when we Dind the true face of
Jesus then we run every day to receive it in the Holy Eucharist, to feed on Jesus, the bread that gives life and !
nourishes the Christian life and that invites you to work for a better world where you feel included and you are part
of this Church that God has left as a place of encounter.!
Don't be afraid, don't be a coward; be brave and say yes to Jesus, because he lives among us and above all in your
heart.!

g{x UÄxáá|Çz Éy à{x V{|Äw |Ç à{x jÉÅu The blessing of an unborn child “sustains the parents by imparting grace and comfort in time of concern and need, unites the parish in prayer for the unborn child, and fosters respect for human life within society.” Expectant families awaiting the birth of their child are invited to receive this special blessing during mass on Saturday, Aug. 10th and Sunday, Aug. 11th. Let us all take a moment to thank God for the Gift of your child.

MARRIAGE MOMENTS !!
Being hospitable vs. being "present." Some people are like Martha (doing the cooking) others are like Mary (listening attentively to a guest). (Luke 10:38!42) Both arenecessary. In your marriage, which of you is drawn to which role? Try switching one time to broaden your skill set.!
