Controversies and Challenges in Primary Care
OVERVIEW
Presented by the Department of Family and Community Medicine, University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, the Annual Review in Family Medicine is designed to update primary care clinicians in controversial and rapidly changing areas. The emphasis is on practical and useful information for clinical practice. The discussions will also be extremely valuable in preparation for the board examination of the American Board of Family Medicine.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is intended for family medicine and other primary care providers including internists, pediatricians, gynecologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other health care professionals.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, participants will have improved skills and strategies to:■■■ Appropriately identify and initiate treatment of patients with hypo- and hyperthyroidism;
■■■ Appropriately evaluate and diagnose rheumatologic disorders;
■■■ Employ effective and practical strategies in management of Hepatitis C;
■■■ Address effective prevention and treatment of common oral health diseases.
ACCREDITATION
The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
UCSF designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
The approved credits shown above include 3.25 credits toward meeting the requirement under California Assembly Bill 1820, Geriatric Medicine
This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency.
Nurses:For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.
Physician Assistants:AAPA accepts category 1 credit from AOACCME, Prescribed credit from AAFP, and AMA PRA category 1 credit™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.
Pharmacy:The California Board of Pharmacy accepts as continuing professional education those courses that meet the standard of relevance to pharmacy practice and have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
