Innovative manufacturing process

AlteTube SBS format tubes are manufactured by a highly specialised and automated process, known as dual injection.

Dual injection optimises co-polymerisation of clear and black polypropylene during one cycle. Creating a powerful molecular bond between the clear tube and the black base.

The result is the single piece AlteTube.

Permanent 2D barcode

The 2D DataMatrix barcode is laser etched on the black base of the tube.

This highly durable 2D barcode is designed to survive in the harshest of lab environments.

The black polypropylene disc is inserted under high pressure and securely captured by the retaining ring.

Once captured the disc cannot be removed.

How it works The VolumeCheck uses ultrasonic technology to measure the distance between the sensor and the sample meniscus.

Calibration tables are initially created by recording the sensor-to-sample distance of known sample volumes.

Samples with unknown volumes are scanned and the software extrapolates the distance from the calibration table to give the volume in each well position.
