REMEMBER TO CHECK OUT WHEN YOU’RE READY TO LEAVEAt the conclusion of your weekend with us, we’ll ask you to come to the Office of Undergraduate Admission in Perlstein Hall and check out. Regardless of whether or not you’re spending the night on campus, you’ll need to stop by the office during the hours listed above and let us know of your departure. When checking out be sure to complete and turn in the feedback form in your folder to be entered for a chance to win an X-Cube! Check-out on Saturday will be available in the McCormick Tribune Campus Center (MTCC) Welcome Center.

HOSTING CONTACTSIf you are staying in the residence halls and need help, go to your floor’s resident advisor (RA). If you cannot find the RA, you should contact the community desk assistant, located at the front door of each residence hall complex, at 312.808.6500 (or, from any campus phone, x8.6500).

If you are staying in a fraternity or sorority house and a problem arises that you or your host can’t handle, the recruitment chair or another house officer can assist you.

If your family is here with you, they have been given the name and campus phone number of your host. If you stay with someone other than your assigned host (including if you decide to stay with family members), it is important to let us know so we can contact you in case of an emergency.

IMPORTANT DETAILS FOR FAMILIESOn the front of your parent folder, you will find the name, campus residential location, and phone number of your student’s host.

You will also find your student’s interview time and the interviewer’s name on your folder. Since all finalists are required to meet at the Office of Undergraduate Admission prior to their interviews, you may also want to use the office as a central meeting place throughout the weekend. We will have staff members available throughout the day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to assist you, hours listed on previous page.

Illinois Tech students are able to supplement their curriculum with courses at VanderCook College of Music, which is also located on our campus. These students participate in classes, play in ensembles, or even take private lessons. Illinois Tech students take classes at VanderCook not only for enrichment, but also to fulfill humanities electives or even earn a music minor.

CAMRAS SCHOLARSHIPNamed for the Illinois Tech alumnus who was a pioneer of magnetic recording, the Camras Scholarship is a prestigious award given to the top applicants to the university each year. The amount awarded for the scholarship is equal to the cost of tuition for the year in which it is awarded and will be valued at more than $175,000 over four years.

Requirements: Camras Scholarship recipients are required to live on campus for at least their first and second years in order to be an integral part of the campus community as outlined by the pillars of the scholarship program: leadership, service, and research. The value of the scholarship does not increase with any tuition increases, but the award will be applied toward a fifth year of study for architecture or toward a co-terminal degree, in which students study for five years to earn both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees. As a scholar, you will be expected to maintain a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.

UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPSelection is based on outstanding high school grades, standardized test scores, recommendations, personal qualities, and involvement in extracurricular activities. The scholarship is equal to $5,000 per year for the length of the student’s study at Illinois Tech and is stackable with the Heald Scholarship. You will be expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress, including a 2.00 cumulative grade point average, in order to retain your scholarship.

DUCHOSSOIS SCHOLARSHIPMade possible by the Duchossois Family Foundation, this award requires recipients to demonstrate exceptional leadership potential and academic success in their projected fields. Recipients will be provided a full-tuition scholarship for undergraduate study at Illinois Tech for up to four years, or for up to five years for students pursuing architecture or a co-terminal program. This award also covers room and board expenses for students living in on-campus residence halls (excluding State Street Village) or fraternity/sorority housing. Additional benefits include a fully funded summer educational experience led by a Duchossois Leadership Professor in the summers after the students’ first, second, and third years, leadership retreats, and faculty and peer mentoring.

Requirements: Duchossois Leadership Scholars must live on campus for their first two years. No room and board support will be provided for scholars who choose to live off campus after their second year. Recipients are expected to participate in the program’s activities and to maintain good academic and personal standing at the university by maintaining a GPA of 3.25 or higher. An integral goal of this program is the development of leaders who have a passion for service and making an impact on their communities; in line with this mission, students will sign a letter of intent to make annual $100 donations to the university upon graduation.

CROWN SCHOLARSHIPThe Crown Scholarship is the College of Architecture’s most prestigious and selective scholarship, providing the recipient with full-tuition support for five years of study at Illinois Tech. The scholarship is awarded to candidates who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, excellent artistic skills in freehand drawing, and involvement in extracurricular activities that demonstrate leadership and independence. You will be expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress, which is a 2.00 cumulative grade point average, in order to maintain your scholarship. If awarded, you must confirm your enrollment at Illinois Tech by April 1.

LEADERSHIP ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIPNamed for University Regent Al Self and his wife, Lila, the M.A. and Lila Self Leadership Academy Scholarship is a distinguished award given to top applicants that demonstrate exceptional leadership potential. Leadership Academy scholars receive a full-tuition scholarship covering 4 years of undergraduate education (5 for Architecture students), exclusive leadership opportunities on campus and in the Chicago area, experiential leadership development and training, and a certificate in leadership studies. Scholars are expected to attend and participate in all Leadership Academy sponsored programming as well as maintain a 3.0 GPA.

“At Illinois Tech I’ve met so many students who are incredibly smart. These are the kinds of students who want to learn

something new every day. Illinois Tech is academically challenging. And it’s hard to be successful without help from others. But here everyone focuses on collective learning and the success of one another. I’ve found a great network here.

The biggest lesson I have learned at Illinois Tech is that I’m much more capable than I had ever given myself credit for.”

“In my Introduction to the Profession class, we were assigned to interview a few professors from the chemistry department and to learn more about their research. As a result of one such interview, I became interested in the work of one of my professors and was invited to take an introductory research class in his lab over the summer. Gaining laboratory experience really broadened my idea of chemistry as a career and helped me see what I was getting myself into after graduation.”

— Grace Wischmeyer (Chemistry 3rd Year), Franklin Park, IllinoisCamras Scholar
