We play joyful jazz -- music that feels good. It is a style that entertains, enriches, but most of all uplifts. A native of Los Angeles, Grammy®-nominated drummer Sammy Miller has become known for his unique maturity and relentless focus on making music that feels good as a drummer, singer and ban-dleader. Upon completing his Master's at The Juilliard School, Sammy formed his ensemble, The Con-gregation. As a band, they are focused on sharing the power of community through their music -- joyful jazz. Award winning theatre incubator, Ars Nova selected The Congregation for the 'Makers Lab' in 2017 to produce their original theater jazz show, "Great Awakening." While independently the band members have performed and recorded with notable artists including Wynton Marsalis, Iron and Wine, and Jason Mraz at venues including the White House, Lincoln Center and the Hollywood Bowl, they have opted to stick together to spread joy throughout the world. The band is made up of the following members: Sammy Miller, Drums, Alphonso Horne, Trumpet, Ben Flocks, Tenor Sax, Sam Crittenden, Trombone, David Linard, Piano and John Snow, Bass. Check out their performances on You Tube. This performance is part of the Marcus Center Presents series and is sponsored by The Fitz at the Ambassador Hotel.

ABOUT THE FITZ AT THE AMBASSADOR HOTEL

The Fitz, located in the iconic Ambassador Hotel, is one of three reimagined dining entities opened in late June 2017. The Fitz joins Gin Rickey and Deco Café as part of the Ambassador's "Trifecta of Dining Excellence". The Fitz features a menu of bold, creative flavors, crafted with influences from yesteryear by the culinary expertise of award winning Chef Jason Gorman. The Fitz’s name is a nod to F. Scott Fitzgerald and his energy and creative story-telling throughout the roaring twenties, the decade during which The Ambassador Hotel was founded. The Fitz offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch, each of which celebrates the rich history of the hotel with Gorman's con-temporary take on the classics. Guests of the Ambassador Hotel, the Fitz, Deco Café' and Gin Rickey are all welcome to take advantage of complimentary parking at the hotel and complimentary shuttle service to and from the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.
