Some of the guys have been whispering about their secret contest dominator in the works. Looks like we are in for a great time. Steve Dona, The Prez ****************************************************************************************************************** SAM 8 minutes for November 8th, 2018 (attendance =19)

Current SAM 8 T-Shirt remaining count by size: Medium = 12 Large = 4 At the sound of the gavel and a whistle from VP W.Tilse the Prez called the meeting to order at 12:03p x To start the meeting Steve announced a Finn Hill contest to be a single design build and fly off for the SAM 8 guys. This is to be

held at the Finn Hill gathering on November 18th. Each participant will buy ($6.00) and build a Mountain Lion kit and participate in a fly off before the Finn Hill kids show up. There will be prizes awarded for the best times turned in. With no limit on the number of flights, the best no-touch time can pick the prize. No modifications to the kit design will be allowed except to omit the wing tip doublers. Kit provided plastic prop balancing will be allowed by adding weight. Rubber and building items will be provided

x Dave Higgins brought in his P-18 for a discussion of design and dimensions with a little history thrown in. Dave also explained his covering material which was the bag from the grocery store. He explained his covering technique and the frame / mold method.

x To spur participation in ignition events, Steve is offering a ‘George Talent’ tuned and balanced O&R 60 to the first new build builder-of-the-model ready to fly ignition model. The model must fly in a contest within one year of acceptance of the O&R engine.

x Plans are being formed for two contests on ‘Nick’s Field’. One will be a misery meet and the other will be the Spring Opener. Details haven’t been worked out as yet. Steve proposes a $100 prize awarded for the top ignition flyer in the two contests based on total points earned. A motion to do this prize was put forward by Steve Dona and seconded by popular vote.

x Dave Cassell recounted Homer’s retirement from modeling and flying and his move to a Oregon Retirement Community.

x Don’t forget the Christmas Party Dec. 15 Saturday 12:00 noon till 4:00p at Angelo’s same as last year. Participants need to sign up ASAP. Contact Will Tilse with your numbers and choices.
