MANSFIELD – Mansfield High School isplanning its first graduation ceremony in twoyears.

The small, rural school had no seniorclass last year, the first time that’s happenedin the school’s history.

This year, there are five: Monica Marks,Staci McDonald, Macen McLean, KevinPeterman and Wade Udell.

The class chose to keep the school colorsas its own: Red, white and gold. Heading intothe future, their motto comes from AshleighBrilliant: “Nothing we do changes the past, everything we do changes the future.”

Seniors will take the stage forcommencement at 4 p.m. June 7 in the highschool gymnasium, 491 Road 14 N.E.

As the 2014 salutatorian, McLean, 18, willbe the class speaker. He is the son of MikeMcLean and Misty McLean.

Because the school bases its selection ofvaledictorian and salutatorian on pre-setgrade-point averages, there is novaledictorian this year, senior class adviserRic Bayless said.

During commencement, Bayless willcontinue the annual tradition of reading the“senior prophecy,” a humorous and touching

fictional glimpse into the future of eachstudent.

The ceremony also includes a slideshow,

and scholarships will be awarded. There is no baccalaureate service this

year.
