THE PROPERTY

Salters Hall is the former Rectory home of Rev. Canon Sir John Molyneux, Rector of St Gregory and St Peter (1855- 79), and was later a preparatory school. The property features some of the finest examples of C15 detail in Sudbury. The upper storey projects on curved brackets with moulded capitals and shafts, the timber-framing is exposed and the oriel window in the upper storey is particularly fine with much original and delicate tracery. The soffit is carved with a man and some grotesque animals and the west wing features Victorian flint work. The spacious accommodation, arranged over two floors, is light and welcoming - a stunning and truly unique home.

“Stour street is the beau ideal of an old-world and picturesque street, the curious gabled and timbered houses, with the branching ornamental trees partly screening them and hanging over the roadway, giving agreeable shade in the ‘dog-days’, forming a very attractive picture, which has often pleased visitors.”
