No permit is required to fish the River Moy above the Ballintemple Fishery. Anglers can fish here as long as they are in possession of a valid state salmon licence and they have obtained the permission of the riparian land owners.

Your Complete Guide to the River Moythe River Moy, with a catchment area of 2080 km2, is ireland’s most prolific game fishery with an annual average rod catch of 8,295 salmon for the years 2005 to 2009.

the main Moy channel is up to 40 metres wide in places and comprises a variety of private and association angling waters to suit all tastes and budgets. the river’s premier salmon angling stretch is the Moy Fishery in Ballina town.

these largely fly-fishing beats are highly sought after by anglers from all over the world and must be booked well in advance.

the Moy Estuary offers a unique opportunity to the angler with superb stocks of feeding seatrout, which can be caught on bait or fly.
