the PCF CER in evaluating and assessing projects for funding; to prevent and mitigate the post-war destruction of cultural and urban heritage in Yemen. Collaborate in sourcing and verifying sites, and local institutions.

Architectural Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Projects Project Architect & Consultant Chief Architect and founding member of The Daw‘an Mud Brick Architecture Foundation established in 2008 and based in Mukalla, Yemen. The Daw‘an Foundation is dedicated to developing and working with vernacular, earth and sustainable architecture. A good number of projects were implemented, in partnership with the Prince Claus Fund, Cultural Emergency Response (The Netherlands). Current projects include the Emergency Works on the City of Shibam, Wadi Hadramut. 2019

Recipient of the Cultural Protection Fund Grant by the British Council in partnership with the Prince Claus Fund for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of five sites in Hadramut, Yemen.

Project Architect & Consultant: Contract for emergency works and rescue of partially collapsed or damaged structures in Daw‘an and Wadi Hadramut after the floods of 2006 & 2008. Includes the reinforcement, restoration and renovation of residential, mosques and cemetery sites in Sah & ‘Aynat (as above). The Architectural Rehabilitation of Masna‘at Daw‘an; Site of 13 buildings in Wadi Daw‘an, Hadramut-undergoing renovation for a Heritage Hotel for a Private Client/Investor.

Nov 2001 -April 2004 Architectural Advisor to HH Shaykh Sultan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime

Minister and Chairman of The Works Department, Abu Dhabi Emirate. Acted as representative to Client in selecting and inviting international architects and

designers for major architectural projects. Architects included Renzo Piano BW, Jean Nouvel, Herzog & de Mueron, Paul Andreau, Claudio Silverstrin, Dale Chihuly, James Turell; Supervising and Managing Projects on sites, coordinating and liaising between government institutions and international consultants, design and project management teams on behalf of the Client. Set up projects, concepts, contracts, and expedite decisions and procedures with The Executive Council, Town Planning Committees and Gov. Finance Department.

Design work included working closely with Consultants, Contractors, Artists and Craftsmen, providing design briefs, developing designs, supervising ongoing work on the sites and seeing through the contract and tender stages.

FES-AUB Workshop since 2013 Set up a workshop for our students in the old Madinah of Fes to work on projects for the architectural rehabilitation of the city. This was set up as part of the new elective on Islamic Architecture and Design, and has proved highly popular and successful. The course has since been running as a professional field elective. ERASMUS PROGRAMME PLUS / Set up 2015 Developed ERASMUS PROGRAMME PLUS agreement with IUAV Venice University of Architecture, and Faculty of Engineering and Architecture for the exchange of post graduate students, faculty and administration. Graduate Studies at the Architecture and Design Department Chair of Graduate Programme Committee, prepared two new proposals for the PhD in Architecture programme and MArch II programme. Developed and set up the PhD and Masters of Architecture Programme proposals for FEA Ard, submitted and approved by the Board of Graduate Studies (January 2016), Senate and BOT (March 2017). SUSTAINABLE DESIGN WEEK / Set up and convened since 2015 Seminar and Workshop for students for the duration of 3 days at ArD originated and set up with Professor Karim Najjar at ArD. Proposed, coordinated and invited international architects/speakers to contribute and participate.
