Process Designer (BETA)

• a.k.a. “Lightning Process Builder”

• At this time, you must request Feature Activation from Salesforce Support

• Allows Salesforce administrator to automate creation or update of records with clicks not code

– More powerful than Workflow (you can create other records!)

– Triggers (custom code) are not required

• What actions can be automated?

– Create a record

– Email Alert

– Launch a Flow

– Post to Chatter

– Quick Actions (invoke an object-specific or global action)

– Submit for Approval

– Update Records

• The actions that are invoked can be immediate or scheduled

11/4/2014 14

Page 15: Salesforce Winter 2015 Release Highlights

Opportunity Management Example

• One Process can contain the decision tree that defines the automations for that record from beginning to end of the lifecycle

• Combine immediate actions and scheduled actions (things to do a bit later)

• What would have been a series of miscellaneous Workflows and Triggers is now encapsulated in onedefined process flow

11/4/2014 15

Page 16: Salesforce Winter 2015 Release Highlights

Sample Criteria & Actions

• When an Opportunity reaches y Stage and Probability > 75

– Post to the Opportunity Chatter Feed

– If Forecast Category = Pipeline, update the Forecast Category =

Best Case

– If Amount > 1m, email the Oppty Owner’s Manager

• Auto-submit for Approval:

– Automatically submit a record for Approval when Discount > 15%

• Product Bundling:

– When xxx Product is added to an Opportunity, also add yyy and zzz

Products

• If the Account’s Address is modified:

– Post to Chatter with an @mention to the Finance Group

– Update the Mailing Address of all related Contacts

11/4/2014 16

Page 17: Salesforce Winter 2015 Release Highlights

Benefits & Considerations

• Can use logic to determine what value populate in a field … even

on Owner and Picklist field updates

– When Account Owner changes, automatically update Contact

Owner

– When Oppty Owner is assigned, automatically populate the Region

field of the Oppty based on Owner.Region (custom field)

• Plan out your process before creating it in the Designer

– Actions can’t be re-ordered. They will occur in the order you create

them.

• Updating child records….

– It is very powerful!!!

– BUT, we cannot specify WHICH child records to update (e.g. by

entering some filter criteria)

Page 18: Salesforce Winter 2015 Release Highlights

Admin Enhancements - Activities

• Activities can now have Lookup relationship fields (BETA)

– We are no longer at the mercy of the “Related To” field

– E.g. Activities can be tied to an Opportunity AND a Campaign

– To enable this feature, contact salesforce.com Customer Support

• Individuals can control if they want to be emailed when a Task is

assigned to them.

My Settings Calendar & Reminders Reminders & Alerts

Admin Enhancements - Forecasting

• Collaborative Forecasts can now be based on:

– Expected Revenue (Amount * Probability)

• Some organizations measure forecasted revenue based on a weighted amount

(as opposed to bucketing data into Pipeline/Best Case/Commit/Closed)

– Custom Opportunity Field

• Some organizations track the overall contract value in the Opportunity Amount,

but need to Forecast and measure Rep performance based upon another

metric such as Monthly or Annual Amount

– Opportunity Splits can be applied to these as well

• When making Adjustments, the user can input a comment in

“Adjustment Notes”
