BAPTISMS Baptisms will be celebrated every Sunday. Parents are asked to register their child for Baptism by calling the Parish Office. Year of Saint Joseph Catholics around the world rejoice over the Holy Father's proclamation of the Holy Year of St. Joseph, which began on December 8, 2020 and ends December 8, 2021. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia began the official observance of this holy year after the New Year. The entire Archdiocese of Philadelphia is encouraged to spend this year growing closer to St. Joseph, honoring him, imitating his virtues and asking for his intercession. May this be a year of great grace for all of us as we grow closer to our spiritual father! Does God Really care about my life?

Yes, God really cares! He heals the broken hearted.

Psalm 147 celebrates what we know will be completed in Christ. The Psalmist, after a bit of difficulties, turns toward God. When my heart has been broken, whatever the cause, God, who is all powerful, will help, healing from the inside. In times of utter frustration, I finally realize that my life is limited when I strive to rely on my own resources. I know that when I turn toward the Lord, everything is different.

How do we receive the healing grace of God? Hand in hand, we

graciously accept two gifts: the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom; secondly, the gift of humility. We finally “get it” that Jesus cares.

Dear Jesus, come into my broken heart, please heal me. He who rebuilds Jerusalem, time and time again and he who has named all the stars can heal us, our humble lives, our relationships and families if

only we accept the headship of God’s love over our lives.

This Sunday Confirmation Candidates Special Mass We invite our Confirmation candidates to a special Liturgy on

Sunday, February 7th at 9:30 am. During this Mass, the students will be prayed for in a very special way.

They will hand in their required paperwork which they have worked on since October. They will receive a special symbol for Confirmation.

Rev. Michael J. Shea, C.M. was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Michael, the youngest of six children, was ordained in 1970. The first thirteen years of his priest-hood were spent in teaching at St. Thomas More, West Catholic and Archbishop Wood High Schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The next twelve years were divided between Niagara University in Western New York and Auburn University in Alabama. In 2010, before coming to the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal in Germantown, Penn-sylvania as an Associate Director, he served as the Director of a retreat house in Spring Lake, Michigan for fifteen years. Since coming to Philadelphia Fr. Shea has conducted a number of novenas and missions primarily but not exclusively in the Arch-diocese of Philadelphia.

School News At SSJ, Catholic Schools Week began by “Celebrating our Parish”! Our students created thank you cards and letters that were on display in the church narthex. Special thanks to our 7th and 8th grade students who spoke at masses and thanks to our faculty members for your part in the 9:30 a.m. Mass. The snow storm condensed our Catholic Schools Week as our students and teachers were home eLearning. We made up missed SSJ events over time; such as the Spelling Bee, SSJ Bowl, Bingo, and the 8th Grade Science Fair. On our “Celebrating our Families” day, there was no homework for students as a thank you to parents. Other days were dedicated to “Celebrating our Students, Communities, Talents, and our Faculty & Staff”. A few new service projects were introduced this year. Students made Valentine’s Day cards for residents in senior homes and Birthday Bags for the St. Agnes Day Room. We had a Super Bowl Dress Down Day where students dressed down in football t-shirts or jerseys with donations of a can of soup for the St. Agnes Day Room. On Thursday, we were happy to carry on the tradition of the 8th Grade Talent Show Act. We couldn’t gather in person, but the show was posted online and enjoyed by all virtually. The week concluded on Friday with a school mass where select classes attended in person and the remaining participated virtually on the school Facebook page. Peacemakers for the month of January were awarded. There was an early dismissal at 11:45 a.m. and a special grab-and-go lunch for our faculty and staff thanks to the Home and School Association. Once again, I thank all our parishioners for your support of our school. Your donations and prayers, especially this school year, are much appreciated!

Pre School: The boys and girls enjoy learning about God's LOVE, as we approach Valentine's Day. They DO LOVE coming to class on Sunday mornings. There will be a school holiday on Sunday, February 14th because of Presidents' Day weekend. Elementary Levels: The students have been reaching out to newborn babies by bringing in cans of Baby Formula. The final day to bring the formula in is Friday, February 12. Also they will make a special card for our Veterans who have given service for our country. We thank the children who are learning the importance of caring for others, There will be an EARLY DISMISSAL for those students who attend Wednesday night in person. Dismissal will be 6:40 p.m., so children can be picked up and taken by parents to attend the 7:00 p.m. Ash Wednesday Mass in church. Blessed Ashes will be distributed during the Mass on Wednesday, February 17. Youth Group: We will gather again on Sunday, February 21, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and focus on Lent.

How do you know if RCIA is the path for YOU? The journey of faith lasts a lifetime!

There are some adults who feel called by God to embrace and become a Roman Catholic. If that adult has never been baptized in any religion (a religious tradition), this is a way to enter the Catholic Faith. Or ----- an adult who has been baptized in another Christian religion but now feels called by God and wants to seek becoming a Roman Catholic may choose to follow this path. Or ----- an adult who has been baptized Roman Catholic but has not received the other Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and Holy Eucharist) may follow this path to complete his or her sacramental initiation. Anyone from the above may spend time

inquiring about becoming a Roman Catholic; may become a catechumen and spend time in information and

formation; will participate in the Rituals and Readings of the Sundays of Lent.
