Saint Jude School Weekly Memo - Volume 19 issue 28 March 18, 2016

The Fulfillment of Our Faith Easter is a day of celebration because it represents the fulfillment of our faith as Christians. St. Paul wrote that, unless Christ rose from the dead, our faith is in vain (1 Corinthians 15:17). Through his death, Christ saved humankind from bondage to sin, and He destroyed the hold that death has on all of us; but it is His Resurrection that gives us the promise of new life, both in this world and the next.

Holy Week is the week preceding Easter and the final week of Lent. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday and ends on Holy Thursday. The Easter Triduum begins Thursday evening of Holy Week with Eucharist and concludes with Easter Sunday Mass. Christians commemorate the Passion of Christ, Who died on Good Friday in reparation for the sins of mankind, and rose on Easter Sunday to give new life to all who believe. Thus, while Holy Week is solemn and sorrowful, it also anticipates the joy of Easter through the recognition of God's goodness in sending His Son to die for our salvation.

Special thanks to Mrs. Sprague and our eighth grade students for leading us in prayer today as they acted out the Stations of the Cross for the school children and parents. I know that the spirit of Christ blessed the heart of each person present. I pray that the experience the children had today will remain a

faith-filled memory for them for the rest of their lives.

I hope you are all busy picking out your colorful attire for our Spring Social. Preparations are underway for our Spring Social which will take place on April 15th from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm in Mt. Carmel Banquet Hall.

Spring is such a beautiful time of the year. Don’t miss the chance to share a fun and relaxed evening with friends and members of the school community. All students are invited to submit a 4x6 photo of themselves to be placed on the Atrium wall along with photos of the Saint Jude staff.

As you know, yesterday was the end of the Third quarter. All grades will be posted and report cards are due to be released on April 1st. Please take time over the break to encourage your child on his/her success thus far and to remind them to always give their best.

Step up For Students is now open for NEW applicants. I would encourage anyone who feels they may be interested to go to the website - www.stepupforstudents.org and read the qualifying information.

As we begin to prepare for the new school year I want to inform all families who may need to seek Financial Assistance, that you must do so by April 1st. Saint Jude school makes every reasonable effort to support families in need. The parent must take full responsibility for contacting Mrs. Deosaran in the bookkeeping office for directions on how to apply. Please note that you MUST complete the FACTS application to receive assistance. Thank you for your cooperation.

Grade eight and friends will host our annual production “The Wizard of Oz” in Mt. Carmel Hall. Tickets on sale now. Come join us!

Risse Brothers will be closed on Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26 in observance of the Easter Holiday.

They will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, March 29.
