Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

We will also continue to offer live-streaming for those who still need to stay safe at home.

Church Capacity Limitations At this time, we are permitted to have a congregation of 50% of the seating capacity in our buildings.

Required Precautions · Wear a face mask or scarf

· Maintain distance between yourself and others (please allow ushers to direct you to a seat in the church) Nursery services are not available at this time.

Am I Obliged to Attend Mass? The obligation to physically attend Mass is still lifted through the time of this pandemic, especially for those over the age of 60, the immuno-compromised, or caretakers of vulnerable individuals. Please join us via live-stream at our parish website or on Facebook.

Fraudulent Texts or Emails We have a report of a fraudulent text message from someone claiming to be Fr. McDaniel and asking for a donation. Please be aware that these are scams and do not come from the Pastor.

Our staff and clergy use clear channels of communication. If you receive a text message from anyone who is not already in your contacts list, be immediately suspicious until you can confirm the identi-ty of the sender by other means. St. Philip's sends some text messages using Flocknote, so watch for those!

Do not click on any link or call any number contained within a suspicious text message.

Never provide sensitive financial information (including the code on a gift card) by text or email. St. Philip's staff and clergy will not ask you to do this. Some scammers try to make other arrangements to get what they want through wireless transfers, gift cards, etc. Please remember that St. Philip's only asks for your support using clear channels of communication and handles online donations through recognized platforms like our WeShare online giving service or the Advancement Foundation of the Diocese of Fort Worth.

If you have any concerns or believe you have received a fraudulent text or email impersonating the staff or clergy of St. Philip's, please con-tact [email protected]

Enthronement kits will be available on every First Friday for the nine First Fridays of this year. To cover the cost of mate-rials, there is a suggested donation of $10 for the Enthronement Kit. Bottles for Holy Water are available for a suggested donation of $1.

What’s in the kit? An image and certificate of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which has been blessed and signed by Fr. McDaniel, Prayer of Consecration, and House Blessing

If you already have an image, bring it to church on First Fridays for a blessing from Father and for a copy of the Consecration Prayer.

Blessed Items Buried Under Church Foundation On Thursday, July 23, we buried the boxes of blessed items under the new church. Your donated items: old or broken rosaries, statues, medals, and bibles will now rest permanently under the church's foundation. In Phase I, this is the spot where our altar will be located!

Thank You from Msgr. Francis Dear Parishioners,

I send you warm greetings and heartfelt peace to you all.

I would have loved to write to you all individually to thank you, to express my ap-preciation to you for your generosity in prayers, gifts, and heart-warming congratulatory messages on my 30th anniversary of priestly ordination. I am most grateful to God for these years of service in His ministry, unworthy though I am.

Keep praying for me and all priests that we may live our priestly vocation in imitation of Christ, the Eter-nal High Priest.

Thank you all and God bless you abundantly. Each and every one of you is part of my life story. Thank you! “Non nobis, Domine, non nobis, sed nomini, tuo da gloriam.” (Psalm 115:1)

Growing in Grace

Prayer for the Week Jesus and Mary, Thou art my hope.

This week…. Tuesday, August 4, is the feast day of Saint John Vianney (1786 – 1859). Jean-Marie Vianney was a French parish priest who is known as the patron saint of parish priests. He is often referred to as the Curé d’Ars (the parish priest of Ars). He is probably best known for his work as a confessor. In the winter he spent 11 to 12 hours a day in the con-fessional. In the summer, his time increased to 16 hours. He had a tremendous devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Totally dedicated to his priestly vocation, he persevered in the constant giving of himself each day. When John Vianney was growing up during the anti-clerical French Revolution, many loyal priests were forced to hide in order to carry out the sacraments. The Vianney family traveled to distant farms to attend Masses celebrated by priests on the run. John realized that these priests were risking their lives and he began to look upon them as heroes. He was 20 when his father allowed him to leave the farm to be taught at a school in the neighboring village. He struggled with school, especially with Latin, since his past education had been inter-rupted by the French Revolution. It was only his deep desire to be-come a priest that made him persevere. Thursday, August 6, is the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord. All three of the Synoptic Gospels tell this story. This feast recalls the revelation of Christ’s glory on Mount Tabor to three disciples, Peter, James and John. Christ was transfigured before them, shining with di-vine light, joined by Moses and Elijah, representing the Old Testament Law and the prophets. The Transfiguration falls on the same date each year. When Crusaders defeated the Turks at Belgrade in July of 1456, news of the victory reached Rome on August 6. Pope Callixtus III placed the celebration of the Feast of the Transfiguration on the Roman calendar the following year and extended the celebration to the Univer-sal Church. “Let us listen to the holy voice of God which summons us from on high, from the holy mountain top.” – Saint Anastasius of Sinai

Thanks for Your Generosity! Thank you all for responding generously to the Annual Diocesan Ap-peal. Our parish raised a total of $150,561.52 for last year’s Ap-peal, helping our Diocese to support needy parishes, schools, outreach ministries, and seminarian and deacon formation. The Diocesan Appeal received the highest level of giving in its history during this year!
