Saint Patrick, known as St Paddy too, is the patron saintof Ireland. He was born in a village in Wales and broughtChristianity to Ireland, converting many pagans toChristianity. St. Patrick's Day is celebrated every year onMarch 17 in his honour. There are no snakes in Irelandbut there is a legend that at the time of Saint Patrick there were lots of snakes and he chased them all intothe Irish Sea.

Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated all around the world, especially in places such as Great Britain, Canada and the United States. Originally, the colour associated withSaint Patrick was blue. However, over the years thecolour green and its association with Saint Patrick's Daygrew. It is said that St Patrick’s used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to thepagan Irish.
