Palm Sunday
Like every Chris�an celebra�on, today's is one of peace. The palm
branches, with their ancient symbolism, recall a scene of the book
of Genesis: "A)er wai�ng seven more days, Noah again sent out
the dove from the ark. In the evening, the dove came back to him
and there was a new olive branch in its beak. So Noah realized that
the waters were receding from, the earth." Today we remember
that the alliance between God and his people is confirmed and es-
tablished in Christ, for "he is our peace." In the liturgy of our holy
Catholic Church — which so wonderfully unites and sums up the
old in the new — we read today the joyful words which remind us
of how Jesus was greeted at his birth in Bethlehem: "The sons of
the Hebrews, raising olive branches, went out to meet the Lord,
crying out, Glory in high heaven." As he moved off, St Luke tells us,
"people spread their cloaks in the road, and now, as he was ap-
proaching the downward slope of the Mount of Olives, the whole
group of disciples joyfully began to praise God at the top of their
voices for all the miracles they had seen. They cried out: Blessed is
the king who comes in the name of the Lord, peace in heaven and

Es otra vez el �empo de completar el CORI para todos los vo-
luntarios, nuevos o no. Es un requisito importante para todos los
voluntarios que �enen o pueden tener algún contacto con niños
incluyendo a los maestros de CCD, catequistas, etc. Por favor,
después de la Misa dominical, contacten a Diluvina quien se en-
carga de esta información.
Domingo de ramos
Como toda fiesta cris�ana, ésta que celebramos es especialmen-
te una fiesta de paz. Los ramos, con su an�guo simbolismo, evo-
can aquella escena del Génesis: esperó Noé otros siete días y, al
cabo de ellos, soltó otra vez la paloma, que volvió a él a la tarde,
trayendo en el pico una ramita verde de olivo. Conoció, por esto,
Noé que las aguas no cubrían ya la �erra. Ahora recordamos que
la alianza entre Dios y su pueblo es confirmada y establecida en
Cristo, porque El es nuestra paz. En esa maravillosa unidad y
recapitulación de lo viejo en lo nuevo, que caracteriza la liturgia
de nuestra Santa Iglesia Católica, leemos en el día de hoy estas
palabras de profunda alegría: los hijos de los hebreos, llevando
ramos de olivo salieron al encuentro del Señor, clamando y di-
ciendo: Gloria en las alturas. La aclamación a Jesucristo se enlaza
en nuestra alma con la que saludó su nacimiento en Belén.
Mientras Jesús pasaba, cuenta San Lucas, las gentes tendían sus
ves�dos por el camino. Y estando ya cercano a la bajada del
monte de los Olivos, los discípulos en gran número, transporta-
dos de gozo, comenzaron a alabar a Dios en alta voz por todos
los prodigios que habían visto: bendito sea el Rey que viene en
nombre del Señor, paz en el cielo y gloria en las alturas. S. José
