My brothers and sisters in Christ, The government’s ban of public gatherings back in March re-quired us to use our parish website to stay connected with one another. If you have visited the site, you know that we have been posting different educational series regarding the art of the Church, the lives of the Uganda Martyrs and the Holy Scripture. Each day, a recording of Fr. Michael reading a chapter of a book of the Bible has been posted on the website. So far, the Acts of the Apostles and the book of Tobit have been completed. The Gospel of Matthew, which we are listening to at Mass on Sundays is the current Book. We want to expand this project so that an audio recording of every book of the Bible can be accessed on the parish website. We want all parishioners to hear the Bible pro-claimed because it is a LIVING WORD. We want it to be availa-ble in English, Spanish and Luganda. So we are looking for vol-unteers to record themselves reading a Book of the Bible. We will be able to use this library in our catechetical programs for chil-dren, adults, catechumens especially if restrictions require that we not have classes and meetings in person. So we are asking adults and children to volunteer to read and record one Book of the Bi-ble. Please send us your names in an email and we will give you the assignment and directions. If you are unsure and want more information before signing up just send an email with your phone number and we will contact you. – Fr. Michael

LAST WEEKEND’S MASSES Last week the attendance increased to 635 worshippers with 294 attending the largest Mass and 55 attending the smallest Mass. We continued to distribute Holy Communion after Mass. In gen-eral, people waited to depart their place before entering the aisles. This was appreciated and we thank everyone for making the ef-fort to be patient and wait. We will look at gradually returning to the distribution of Communion during Mass as soon as possible. The size of each congregation will help determine when that is possible. We will also start preaching during mass once again. We continue to clean the Church between all the Masses.

BULLETIN COVER This elegant mosaic on the sanctuary floor of St. Mary’s is a rep-lica of a well-known mosaic located in Tabgha, at the Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes. Tabgha is on the north-western shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel. The town is best known as the place where Christ's miraculous multiplication of loaves and fishes took place.

PRIEST DISTRIBUTING HOLY COMMUNION Someone asked how the priest prepares to distribute Holy Com-munion. We are explaining it here because other parishioners may have the same question. The procedure is as follows: The priest goes to the Tabernacle where he puts on his mask. Then he sani-tizes his hands before taking the Ciborium with Hosts.

RESUMING PUBLIC WORSHIP SERVICES A few weeks have passed since we resumed public Sunday and weekday Masses. The following have also restarted: 1. The 5:00pm Mass on Thursday, normally celebrated for the

children in the After School Program, will be celebrated in the main church rather than in the chapel.

2. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held every Friday fol-lowing the noon Mass until Solemn Benediction at 6:00pm.

3. Normally at the Friday 12:10 Mass, a collection was taken up for Only a Child, the orphanage/school in Guatemala. We will have the baskets at the doors for this collection each Fri-day and resume sending money to them each month.

4. Evening Masses in Spanish have begun on Wednesday and Fridays at 7:00pm in the main church, as well as the Friday evening Luganda Mass at 8:00pm.

5. We are also making plans to celebrate First Communion and Confirmation ceremonies as well as baptisms for infants and adults.

WORSHIP PROCEDURES For the last few weeks, we have included in the bulletin the pro-cedures that we follow to allow for the safe and reverent celebra-tion of the Holy Eucharist. These procedures have been moved to our website https://www.stmarywaltham.org.

UGANDA MARTYRS FEAST 2020 Many thanks to Bishop Robert Reed and everyone who attended the Uganda Martyrs feast celebration last Wednesday. It was a lovely celebration even if it was smaller than in past years. It was reverent and peaceful. Many thanks to Father Charles and the UCCB leadership for promoting the Mass and the cult of the Mar-tyrs. There is no doubt that keeping the memory of these coura-geous men will bring our parish many blessings.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL Today as we celebrate the gift of the Body and Blood of Christ let us pray for those who are hungry, malnourished and starving.

Please say a prayer for the poor and forgotten as you place your gift in the St. Vincent de Paul poor box at the church doors. To-gether we can help those who are hungry.

Christ Jesus, your Eucharist is a sign of love, may the poor find a place at your table. Christ Jesus, your Eucharist is a sign of unity, may we embrace diversity with reverence and open hearts. Christ Jesus, your Eucharist is a bond of charity, may we be living signs of your presence in your midst. Christ Jesus, your Eucharist is a pledge of future glory, may we welcome home all who have died believing in you. Amen.

PLEASE PRAY FOR . . . Ruth, Teresa, Frank Chiasson, Lou Nocera, Joseph Mutyaba, all the sick and suffering.

Note: If you want a name added or removed from the sick list, please email or call the parish office.

CHURCH CLEANING TEAM Although we have a team of people cleaning the church and bath-rooms between weekend Masses, there are other times when we will need this cleaning to be done – such as after a funeral or oth-er event. We want to put together a team of people who are will-ing to clean the church and bathroom on an on-call basis. Clean-ing supplies would be provided. If you are interested, please email or call the parish office.

HEALTHY WALTHAM The numbers of people coming for food donations continues to hold steady. Even with some businesses restarting, 642 people came to get food for their families. Let us continue to thank the Lord for the work of Healthy Waltham which continues to help those in need. Let us pray that the numbers decrease because peo-ple are able to return to work.

FARMER’S MARKET The Waltham Farmer’s Market opened last Saturday. It isn’t the same size as previous years but nothing is the same as last year. We found some delicious greens for a good price from one of the vendors. Let us do what we can to help these local farmers and vendors.

OFFERTORY

Thank you for your generous offering to our parish. The following was collected during all parish Masses.
