Twenty Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Welcome To The New Annunciation Parish!
Uniting The Catholic Community of Newington * Established June 29, 2017
We extend a warm welcome to all new families/individuals. Our parish is nourished by your
presence. We hope you feel at home here, and want to make Annunciation Parish YOUR parish.
Every family in the parish should be properly registered. New parishioners should register at the Parish
Office. Single adults over 21 years of age should register separately from parents.
It is necessary to be registered to arrange baptisms, marriages, enroll in Religious Education classes,
and to obtain sponsor certificates for baptism and confirmation.

Daly Notes...
Well, the process of merging continues to move forward. This last couple of weeks has been a
hectic but exciting time.
We have finally received our new Tax ID number, and other necessary documents, to begin the
process of combining our finances and resources. We will keep most of the existing accounts
open for several months. Please continue to make your checks out to either Saint Mary
Church or Holy Spirit Church. We will let you know when the new accounts are in effect.
Our Religious education program had a very successful start of the year. We now have over
660 young people in our program. I know that this has been a challenging transition for some,
but overall I am very happy with the spirit of cooperation and support that I have witnessed by
so many. As with any change there are things to work out. My sincere thanks to Sue, Terri,
Stephanie and all of our catechists and helpers for all they do for our young people and their
families. Many different talents and interests are needed in our program. If you would like to
be of assistance in some way on Sunday mornings, please call the office and talk to Sue or
Terri at 860-666-3562.
Our new parish council has already met, and we will meet again later this month. Our other
committees will be merging in the months to come.
Our new bulletin looks great! We are working on a new database, a new website and
also a Facebook page.
Catholic Charities will be leasing several rooms in our school starting this month.
As you know, our new receptionist at Holy Spirit Church, Kim Marchetti will start tomorrow,
Monday, October 2nd. Please join me in welcoming Kim to our parish staff.
Thank you for all that you do for Annunciation Parish!

Annunciation Parish / Our Blessed Seminarians
A Note from Anthony Federico
Dear friends -
Greetings from Washington, D.C. I miss all of you, and my family, but it is wonderful to be
back here with my brother seminarians.
My fifth year in seminary is off to a great start. My classes are shifting toward more practical
preparation for priesthood. It's very exciting! I am taking Diaconate Practicum (how to be a
deacon), Homiletics, Pastoral Counseling, Theology of the Trinity and History of the
Sacraments. I serve at Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Bethesda, MD. Ironically, my pastor
there, Monsignor Edward Filardi, was a seminary classmate of Father Shawn!
In October, God-willing, I will be officially accepted as a Candidate for the Order of
Deacons. This is one of the last major milestones on the road to priesthood. I ask for your
prayers for continued conversion and surrender to the Lord's loving plan.
On a personal note, I have decided to take control of my diet and exercise habits. I am down 19
pounds! If I can do it, anyone can.
I can't wait to come back to Newington in the fall to see you again.
In the Lord Jesus,
Anthony
“Greetings from Rome!”
Well, it's been just over a month since I left for the seminary and - if
you can believe it - I still have yet to start classes! The last few weeks have been packed with Italian language classes, registration for classes, and a week-long silent retreat. Our retreat was in the mountain-top village of Greccio, where St. Francis lived with his companions for a number of years and where he created the first ever Christmas crèche. There were plenty of beautiful hiking trails and even a museum featuring hundreds of nativity scenes from all over the world.
On Monday I begin my theology studies at the Gregorian University, the first Jesuit university founded by St. Ignatius Loyola in 1551. The semesters here run a little differently; the first starts in October and ends in February.
For those who might be interested in having an international pen-pal, my address here is as follows:
Pontifical North American College - Joseph MacNeill Vatican City State, 00120
Europe
I hope all is well back at Annunciation parish! Please know that I continue to pray for all of you each day; I ask that you continue to do the same for me.
In Christ, Our Hope,
-Joe MacNeill
