Are You Looking for a Year-End Tax Break? The stock market is through the roof right now, and there’s just a week or two left in the calendar year. Could you by chance be thinking of making a year-end charitable gift to qualify for a 2016 tax write-off? If so, please consider dedicating a pew in our new church.

At the moment, your parish is trying to pay some very large bills as we continue to build our church. Dedicating a pew—in memory of a deceased loved one, in honor of a patron saint, or in gratitude for any of God’s blessings—is not only a great way to help St. Jude, it's a way to leave a permanent memory in a sacred place. I will bolt an engraved bronze plaque at the end of each pew that has been dedicated in our new church. Just tell me what you want yours to say! It won’t be long before every pew is taken, so why not reserve yours now?

You'll be able to tell them, “As a matter of fact, yes, I do have my name on this seat!”

Just call the office to arrange the dedication. We can work out the wording whenever you like.

God bless you…and St. Jude, pray for us!

Fr. Hudgins

DECEMBER 18, 2016 FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT

In this season of Advent, we are continuously preparing ourselves for the celebration of Christ's birth. Why not help our own parish prepare for the coming new year by signing up with Faith Direct? By supporting St. Jude Catholic Church through Faith Direct, both you and our parish can save some time and peace of mind this holiday season. Already using Faith Direct? Don't forget to add your Christmas or End-of-Year contributions to your account. Visit www.faithdirect.net and use our church code: VA512. Thank you for your continued support of our parish family!

Shawn Lenahan and Hugh O’Brien from the Ancient Order of Hibernians present Fr. Hudgins with a check for $250 for St. Jude Parish needs. Thank you to the Hibernians for their support of St. Jude.

Mass Intention Guidelines St. Jude Parish is blessed with more requests for Mass intentions than we can accommodate. To assist in increasing Mass intention availability for all St. Jude parishioners, new guidelines have been established for 2017. The Mass Book for April, May and June will open on January 3, 2017. Effective for 2017 Mass intention requests, the following guidelines have been established: 1. St. Jude registered parishioners can schedule up to three Masses in one calendar month for each month of the

year. When the 2017 Mass book opens for that time period, parish households can only schedule a maximum of three Masses per visit. There is no limit to the number of unscheduled Masses that can be offered.

2. Non-registered people have available unlimited unscheduled Masses. In addition, one scheduled Mass can be offered each month, but only if it is for a St. Jude parishioner. Only one scheduled Mass can be requested per visit.

3. No Mass intention request will be done over the phone or by email. 4. A form will be available to complete for your Mass intention along with your stipend ($10 suggested), which can

be mailed to the Parish Office or dropped off at the Parish Office during business hours Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm. The forms will be located on the credenza by the Parish Office, on the wood stand in the Gathering Space or in the Parish Office during business hours.

5. Please print clearly to be sure your handwriting is legible and the form is completely filled out. To ensure accuracy, we must be able to read the request and contact you if necessary.

6. Mass intentions are on a first come, first served basis in the order in which they are received by the Parish Office.

Thank you for your continued support of St. Jude. God Bless you all. St. Jude Parish Staff
