Sunday Reading Reflection
Thank you to the two Knights Counsels and the Daughters of Isabella Chapter, the two parishes I serve, and the UCC Church that helped fund the trip to Six Flags. Thank you to Tom Fitzpatrick who is setting up our mission trip
and to the 14 youths who signed up already. Thank you to Peter Pothier who is setting up the March for Life. As we head for Christmas we are called to repent, to prepare, to be good for goodness sake. This can be done by looking at how we fail to be thankful and then simply change and start to be thankful. Going to Church on Sundays is all about being thankful to God for life and salvation. This ultimate thankfulness helps us to be thankful to each other. I am thankful for you. God bless you. Thank you to the staff and Fr. Jason. You are wonderful to me.
Christmas Flowers and Arrangements for The Church
Environment
If you would like to make a monetary donation for Christmas Flowers and arrangements for the inside of the Church in memory of a loved one/special intention, please write the name of the person to be remembered/intention and who is making the request. Please write legibly as it is sometimes hard to read the names. Please place these intentions in the basket or drop them off at the Rectory by December15th. Donation is $15.00. ~Mary Best

Our Parish Mission Trip will be going to Oil City, Pennsylvania, July 22-28, 2018. The trip is open to all students entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2018, so that includes current 8th graders. We will once again be going through Catholic Heart WorkCamp, whose mission is “to foster the Catholic Faith of each participant through the sacraments, prayer and involvement in social service.” This promises to be an inspirational and fun week where you’ll live your Faith by helping local residents with anything from painting or gardening to home repair or even child care, while being strengthened in your Faith through daily Mass, amazing music and a lively and motivational evening program. It will also be a wonderful opportunity to make friends from around the country and within our own collaborative. There will be an informational meeting on Monday, November 27th, at 7pm in the St. Joseph Church hall in Pepperell, so I invite you all to attend. There will be more information available in the bulletin, including the email address of the trip organizer, who will be glad to answer any questions you might have. ~ Tom Fitzpatrick

So all you need to do is make a commitment for 6 months at a time. Please help by taking a picture - leave the babies name then your name and address on the slip provided. This will help families and Our family at St. John’s. ~Marion Parker

Learning about our faith must be accompanied with the practice of the faith! That means regular Mass attendance. Please be sure you are participating in weekly MASS! See you there!
Our offertory this past weekend was: $4,932.00 Our 2nd collection for Retired Religious Sisters was: $1,103.00.
Our 2nd collection this weekend is for our mortgage. As 2017 draws to a close, you may want to start thinking now about your year-end taxes. Perhaps a donation to St. John’s could help your bottom line, or it could help St. John’s as we head into the coldest & snowiest months of the year (those Unitil bills really add up). Please remember St. John’s during this holiday season. Did you know that the IRS requires that each time you make a one-time donation of $250 or more to St. John’s we must provide you a written acknowledgement of this donation? Well, fear not! Anytime you make a donation of this amount or larger, you will automatically receive a Tax Donation letter in January, from St. John’s noting this one-time donation, as well as any other donations that you have made throughout the year. So, if you put $25/week in your offertory envelope, and then decided to send in a check for $1,000 for our utility collection, as you had to defrost your windshield on Sunday morning just to get to church and thought about how much that bill might be for St John’s, you will automatically receive a letter in mid-January. Or, are you starting to estimate your 2017 taxes and realize that a one-time donation to St. John’s just might be a very smart financial move? We would love to help you solve that problem. Send us a donation – for the mortgage, the utilities or whatever you would like. If your donation is $250 or more, we will automatically, no request needed, send you the required information in January for your taxes. In any event, even if you do not send in a single donation of $250 or more, we will send you out, upon request, a tax donation letter. We can email, mail it or you can pick it up from the rectory. You just need to ask. However, you do need to be making your weekly donations via the offertory envelopes, Online Giving or through Online Banking / BillPay for us to send you out this statement. Loose cash and checks placed in the offertory basket are not counted – so please use an envelope. Now might be a great time to set up online giving in preparation for your taxes next year. Just go to our website: TownsendCatholic.org and scroll to the bottom of the site until you see the icon for Online Giving. Click on that and you are on your way to helping support St. John’s. Thank you for your generosity!

Meet Father Cusack – Embracing his vocation, embracing God’s peopleFather Anthony Cusack grappled with his vocation as a young man. After hearing God’s call to the priesthood, he embraced a life of service to every person placed before him in ministry.
Recognizing the growing needs of ethnic communities, Father Anthony broadened his pastoral skills by learning to celebrate Mass in both Spanish and Vietnamese. This enabled him to accept his rst assignment at St. Ambrose and St. Mark Parishes in 2015.
Today, Father Anthony ministers in the heart of Dorchester. He engages the community in three very dierent languages. When summarizing his responsibilities, he describes personifying Christ: “The duty of the priest is, I think, to be Jesus to every single person he meets.”
To help ensure priests like Father Anthony receive essential care as they live out their vocation, please support the Clergy Health and Retirement Trust through the special collection this Christmas.
