The Altar Flowers that will be offered at our Eucharistic Celebrations for this week are in memory of James Damiani. This is a gift from his family.

How do we find God? Where do we find God? Is God like “the force” in Star Wars that is made up of symbiotic particles which allow those who have more to do greater things than those who have fewer. A “force” that can be “dark or light”? I don’t think so. The best way to find God is here at Mass. As the Prophet Elijah found God in a tiny whispering sound, we can find Him in the Liturgy of the Word. Benedictine Abbot Bernard Ducruet, tells the following story. “In a Catholic Monastery a Japanese monk, practitioner of Zen, explained his method of meditation and he asked, “And you, what do you do?” In response an old monk revealed his point of departure: “ The Word of God, because God” he said, “is already there, in Holy Scripture and we just have to meet him there.” The Gospel today tells us about how Christ, after feeding the five thousand with five loaves and two fishes, proves he is God by controlling nature by walking on water. In the Liturgy of the Eucharist he gives us of himself to eat — His Body which is true food and His Blood which is true drink (John 6:55). Here, at Holy Mass he comes to us in the form of bread and wine. For one who can walk on water, for one who brought people back to life, for one who cured disease and resurrected after submitting himself to an ignominious and cruel death for our sake, changing the substance of bread and wine into his divine body and blood is easy. That is how and where to find God. St Paul tells us, “But how can they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? And how can people preach unless they are sent?” (Rom 10:14-5). We have a part in this by supporting missionaries wherever they are needed. This weekend we will be hosting the Mission Cooperative. Please welcome Fr. Mark Yavarone, OMV. Currently Fr. Yavarone teaches at Pope St John XXIII National Seminary, where I studied. I met him before that when he visited his aunt Sister James Xavier Landi, SSJ at OL of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex. Then he was assigned to the Philippines. He was sent there and now he is sent here to bring us closer to Christ and his mission though the loving guidance of the Blessed Mother.

The Bread and Wine that are being offered at our Eucharistic Celebration this week are in loving memory of Lily Woolley. This is a gift from David & Paula DeMarco.

A Message from Pastor Fr. Michael Fragoso

Parish Intention of the Month As we take a break from work, school and

schedules, that we always have our Lord, our faith, and the gospel with us, remembering that God never “vacations” from us, or our needs.

GRANDPARENTS CORNER

St James the Less is hoping to form a Grandparents Ministry and are looking for volunteers to share their talents, life experiences and wisdom. While the specifics of our Ministry will be directed by you, we are planning our first function of an after Mass

breakfast in September, in which you will be able to meet some of our younger parishioners and their families. In all of this, one must remember that being a Grandparent is a call from God a Vocation of being a Grandparent. Jesus' own Grandparents Saints Joachim and Anne were a wonderful example of wisdom and devotion. So please think about what you have to offer and take this opportunity to love and care for Grandchildren, one child at a time. Thank you & Stay tuned....

¿Cómo podemos encontrar a Dios?
