ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED!

We are in need of altar servers for the 4:30 and 7:30

masses. Those who previously served have graduated and

are no longer on the schedule. Please help if you can.

SAINT JAMES HARVEST FAIR

NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!

SILENT AUCTION: The Silent Auction table is

now accepting donations--any new items or crafts that can

be bid on, monetary donations or gift certificates may be

sent or brought directly to the rectory.

BUY-A-BASKET needs all kinds of items to go with

their basket themes. Tags are now at both church

entrances and if you could buy one or two things from

the list, it would be greatly appreciated. Boxes are

located in the main vestibule for your donations.

CRAFT TABLE is looking for any type of craft you’d

like to donate. Some ideas are holiday decorations and

ornaments, knitted and crocheted items, household

decorations, or anything else you “craft”. Please put your

name and suggested selling price on your donated items.

WHITE ELEPHANT TABLE We are now

accepting items for the White Elephant Table. No clothes or

shoes, no exercise equipment, computers or TV’s, please.

Small furniture items are okay. Please bring your items to

the garage. Thank you!

STEWARDSHIP NOTE FOR THE

21st Sunday in Ordinary Time “For behold, some are last who will be first and some are

first who will be last.” (Luke 13:30) Our standards in

society are different from God’s standards. We often rank

people by what they have, how powerful they are, or how

successful they are. Jesus reminds us that God will not

judge us by the same earthly standards. When God asks

you, “what have you done with the gifts I have given you?”

How will you respond?

THE TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME AUGUST 25, 2019

MUSTARD SEED Our parish will be serving the monthly

meal at the Mustard Seed this Monday,

August 26th. Parishioners who would

like to help serve the meal are asked to

meet at the rectory at 5 PM. Those who

were contacted for baked goods are

asked to drop them off at the parish

center by Monday before 5:00. Thanks!

CONFIRMATION NEWS

The Confirmation Retreat will be held on Saturday,

Sept 7, at St James Church. Check in will be at 10:15, we

will start at 10:30 and will end with Mass at 4:30. Mass is

part of the retreat and you are expected to attend. Please

bring a lunch and if parent could provide snacks/drinks for

the day that would be greatly appreciated.

Help Needed! If anyone is interested in helping out with our Religious

Ed program, we need help on Monday afternoons and

evenings. Please email Carole LeBlanc at

[email protected] if you have a few hours a week to

share with our young parishioners. Thank you in advance!

1st & 2nd Grade Religious Education

We have extremely low registration in grades 1 and 2.

With that said, Fr Hanlon has agreed that we can’t hold

classes that small because we need a steady number to

ensure that the teachers are never alone with only 1 student

which is not allowed by the Diocese. We have sent out

registration forms to EVERY family. We will hold a

1st Eucharist Celebration in May for those students who

would like to receive at St James.

This was not an easy call by any means, but we simply

don’t have any other choice. Please know that classes will

be offered for you at St Mary Parish; 0those who have

registered will be notified of class.

If you still need to register your 1st or 2nd grader, please

contact Carole or mail in the registration form that was

mailed to you.

PARISH POSITION

AVAILABLE

IMMEDIATELY With the recent retirement of Mike

Trilligan, Saint James Parish is in need

of a part-time custodian. The position

would require approximately 15 hours

weekly. Duties would include, but are not limited to:

weekly cleaning of main church and lower classrooms,

trash and recycling, cleaning of parish center; main floor,

bathrooms and lower classrooms, set-up for special

activities in the hall, mowing, edging and trimming of

properties, and routine and emergency maintenance/repairs.

Please contact Father Hanlon or Celeste in the parish office

for further information. Thank you!

Father John Henault will be returning to his mission in

Haiti this coming Wednesday and we want to send him

with all our good wishes and prayers.

During his stay with us, a special collection was taken

up and he wished to share the results with us.

CASH: $1,196.00

CHECKS: $16,545.00

TOTAL: $17,741.00

Part of this total was a generous matching donation from

the Benedict Council Knights of Columbus for $2,000.00

which was initiated by Andy Kjellberg. Thank you, Andy!

Father Henault intends to use $10,000. to fund his solar

projects. He will also be able to fund 4 mobile clinics at

$1,800. each for a total of $7,200. Lastly, with the

remaining money he can purchase medicines to supplement

what he receives from the World Health Organizations.

Each patient (there are 26 patients with leprosy at this time)

requires $20 USD/monthly for treatment, so this will help

many of them. Again, Fr. John extends his thanks to all.
