~~~~A NOTE FROM OUR PASTORA NOTE FROM OUR PASTORA NOTE FROM OUR PASTORA NOTE FROM OUR PASTOR~~~~
As I have shared in the last two bullens, we have taken a significant step in implemenng our parish’s Master Plan. Over the past five years, we have examined the present physical needs of our parish and have taken into consideraon the future needs of the parish, given the building of new homes in our area. A)er examining the possible opons, members of our Parish’s Finance Commi+ee, our parish’s present and past corpora-tors, the members of our Parish Council, staff members and I, working with representaves of the Archdiocese and with the ap-proval and support of Archbishop William Lori, have made a deci-sion to build a new church on our Ijamsville campus. The new church will seat some 800 people and will be constructed on the field between the present Polk Hall and Route 80. The present Polk Hall will become the narthex of our new church and also, when needed, provide overflow seang. Our current church will become the new Polk Hall, provid-ing our parish a much larger hall for church acvies and much needed storage space. The plan includes an enclosed walkway linking the new church and the new Polk Hall. In addion, 81 more parking spaces will be created as well as two family restrooms. In the second week of May you will be receiving in the mail materials with addional informaon on the project.
Members of our Parish’s Hai Commi+ee will have their annual Shredding Event Fundraiser this coming Saturday, May 5
th,
from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon on our western parking lot. All are invited to bring paper documents to be shredded and to support the needs of our Sister Parish of Immaculate Concepon in Villard, Hai.
Our Parish’s Annual Plant Sale begins this Friday, May 4th
from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The plant sale connues on Saturday, May 5
th, and on Sunday, May 6
th. Flowering plants for planng,
and in containers for porches and paos, vegetable plants, herbs and mulch will all be available for purchase! Blessings,
Fr. Mike
Welcome Team
Thirty-three new families have registered with St. Ignatius in 2018! The infusion of new members adds talents, skills, & diversity to our Parish Family. We are truly blessed to have them join our parish. As Catholics, we are called to be disciples of Christ, which in-cludes reaching out to new parishioners, as well as those “un-churched and de-churched”. We need to welcome them into our parish and the Church, understanding their concerns & needs, while revealing each to the love of Jesus Christ. If you are inter-ested in being a part of the Welcome Team, simply e-mail [email protected].
Excerpt from Fr. Joe Breighner’s “More Reflections Along A Country Road”
Good Example The most effective way we share our scriptures, our understanding of the sacraments, our prayer life and our image of God, is by how we live. As someone has profoundly put it, “People may not always believe what you say, but they will always believe what you do.” So our effort is to live as Jesus asked us to live when He gave the criteria for entering the kingdom of God, “I was hungry and you fed me; thirsty and you gave me something to drink; naked and you clothed me; in prison and you visited me; a stranger and you took me in” Put simply, the best way to show our belief in God is through the sermon of our lives.
When we treat the least person the way we treat God, then we become believable and God becomes visible.
