Saints Michael, Gabriel and Raphael

Archangels

Feast Day—September 29th

These archangels, messengers sent by God, are the

only ones named in the Bible. In the Book of Daniel,

Michael is called “the great prince”; in the Letter of

Jude he argues with the devil over Moses’ body; and

in the Book of Revelation, he leads the battle against

Satan. He is patron of the sick, radiologists and

mariners. Gabriel explains Daniel’s visions to him in

the Book of Daniel and in the Gospel of Luke

announces to Zechariah and Mary the births of their

respective sons. He is the patron of messengers and

telecommunications and postal workers. Raphael

guides Tobiah in the Book of Tobit; he is patron of the

blind, physicians and travelers. The church created

their joint feast after the Second Vatican Council.

On behalf of all the priests of the Archdiocese

of Boston, thank you for your generous

support of the Clergy Trust last weekend.

If you have not had the opportunity to make a donation

and would like to do so, please go to clergytrust.org

“Without the Lord’s Day, we cannot live!”

With most Covid-restrictions lifted and people able to

come and go more freely it has been a joy to see so many

of you returning to Church for the celebration of the

Eucharist. Welcome back. But as Covid-19 numbers are on

the rise again many are expressing a certain hesitancy as

to the safety of being inside with a gathering of people, be

it the Church or a local restaurant. Please remember that if

have concerns for your personal safety you should remain

at home. God understands! If you have any questions, feel

free to call.

This collection will also provide support to The Catholic University of America (CUA) that educates priests and lay people for ministry and for the Inner-City Parishes of the Archdiocese of Boston. Your generosity will assist the Holy Father as well as various missionary efforts at home and abroad.

Prayer for World Day of Migrants and Refugees

Holy, beloved Father,

your Son Jesus taught us

that there is great rejoicing in heaven

whenever someone lost is found,

whenever someone excluded, rejected or

Discarded is gathered into our “we”,

which thus becomes ever wider.

We ask you to grant the followers of Jesus,

and all people of good will,

the grace to do your will on earth.

Bless each act of welcome and outreach

that draws those in exile

into the “we” of community and of the Church,

so that our earth may truly become

what you yourself created it to be:

the common home of all our

brothers and sisters.

Amen.

Twenty-sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time Strong words in today’s Gospel: “"Whoever causes

one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it

would be better for him if a great millstone were put

around his neck and he were thrown into the

sea.” As disciples of Jesus Christ, each of us has a

huge responsibility to give good example to children

and young people in our midst – as well as to our

peers. The Church gives us the help we need to root

out the sinfulness that causes us to separate

ourselves from Christ. Bring your weakness and

sinfulness to Christ in the Sacrament of Confession.

Offer this prayer: Cleanse me from my faults! Teach

me your ways, O God!

Please join us for Eucharistic Adoration on Saturday,

October 2nd from 12 (noon) to 1:00 p.m., and every first

Saturday of each month at noon for Adoration.

Confessions will also be heard at that time.

Anointing of the Sick will be offered after every Mass

next weekend, October 2nd and October 3rd and every

first full weekend of the month.
