HEAD COACH ROB KRIMMEL Fifth Season

Saint Francis ‘00

Rob Krimmel enters his fifthseason as the Saint Francis men’s basket-ball coach in 2016-17. He was namedthe 21st coach

in program history on April 19, 2012.

In 2015-16, Saint Francis had several key moments including sweeping Robert Morris for the first time since the 2000-01 season. Ronnie Drinnon was just one of two players and seventh all-time to record a 20-point 20-rebound 5-assist game, doing so against CCSU on Febru-ary 6th. The Flash also completed one of the biggest comebacks of the season last year when they erased a 17-point halftime deficit in a 73-65 triumph at Bryant. Krimmel led the Red Flash to its most successful season in a decade in 2014-15 as the Red Flash had its first winning regular season since 2004-05. The Red Flash finished 16-16 overall as it appeared in its second consecutive NEC Tournament semifinals for the first time in program history. The Flash also hosted its first postseason game since 1991 when SFU hosted Bowling Green in the CollegeInsiders.com Postseason

NEBO’S BLOCK PARTYSophomore forward Josh Nebo has become a force when it comes to protecting the rim. After posting 59 blocks as a freshman, Nebo has 15 this year, with two coming at Marquette. His 74 career blocks are already tied for fifth all-time at Saint Francis with Reggie Lewis (1898-94). Nebo is three away from tying Lou Schmitt (1980-84) for fourth place. Nebo leads NEC with 1.5 blocks per game. Action BraxtonBraxton has enjoyed an impressive freshman campaign, which includes two NEC Rookie of the Week awards. He has posted double-digit scoring efforts in six games this season and has six games with eight or more rebounds. His 19 rebounds against Stony Brook are the most by an NEC player in a game this season and the 12th-most by any Division I player. That is also the most rebounds by an NEC freshman since Central Connecticut State’s Ron Robinson on February 5, 2001 vs. Mount St. Mary’s. He is second among NCAA freshmen in rebounds per game (9.1), only 0.2 rebounds behind UCLA’s TJ Leaf. Braxton averages two more rebounds than any other freshman guard in the country.

BOMBS AWAYSaint Francis hit 10 threes against Marquette on Monday, the third time this season hitting 10 or more threes. SFU hit 10 against Duquesne and 19 vs. Chatham. The Red Flash is currently 16th the nation with a 41.0 three-point percentage and leads the NEC, hitting 8.7 three-pointers per game. SFU’s 19 against Chatham are the fifth-most in a Division I game this year.

Sophomore guard Jamaal King leads the team with 20 threes, with senior guard Georgios Angelou right behind with 17. Sophomore Isaiah Blackmon and Scott Meredith have 16 and 13, respectively, while sophomore Andre Wolford has hit seven.

BALANCED ATTACKThe Red Flash has put at least four players in double figures in 6 of 10 games this season. SFU had five in double figures in the opener at Saint Bonaventure.

King (14.1), Blackmon (11.3), Nebo (11.2) and Braxton (10.3) are all averaging double-figures through 10 games.

Youth movementEleven of the eighteen players on the Saint Francis roster are freshman or sophomore eligibility. Of the 16 players who have appeared a game this year, 12 are freshmen or sophomores. Through 10 games, the group has combined for 676 of the team’s 767 points (88.1 percent) and 1658 of 2000 minutes (82.9 percent). Against Marquette, a freshman or sophomore scored all 65 points and the group combined for 178 minutes.

FIRST MEETINGSRed Flash basketball dates back all the way to the 1905-06 season. In those 111 seasons, Saint Francis has never matched up with either Stony Brook or Texas A&M. That will change this season when the Sea Wolves come to Loretto on December 17th and SFU makes the trip to College Station on December 21st.

TEAM CaptainsSenior guard Georgios Angelou, sophomore guard Jamaal King and sophomore forward Josh Nebo were selected Team Captains for the 2016-17 season. Angelou, one of three seniors on the roster, moves into a bigger role this year after being a key contributor off the bench last season, leading SFU with a 43.8 three-point percentage. King will provide lead-ership at the point guard spot, while Nebo made a big impact in his freshman campaign, starting 29 games.

BIG SHOES TO FILL• Saint Francis graduated three key players from their 2015-16 team in Greg Brown, Ron-

nie Drinnon and Ben Millaud-Meunier• Those three seniors combined for 53 percent of the team’s points (1,132 of 2,110), 46

percent of the team’s rebounds (504 of 1,093) and 55 percent of the team’s assists (196 of 356)

History in the MakingHistory will be made when the Red Flash travel to Milwaukee to take on the Marquette Golden Eagles. Saint Francis is taking part in Marquette’s 100 years of basketball celebra-tion and their meeting on December 19th will be 59 years to the day from their last meet-ing. Saint Francis defeated Marquette 79-72 on December 19th, 1956.
