XXII Sunday in Ordinary Time XXII Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario Humility is a virtue we don’t see much in our times. It seems that bragging, swaggering, and arrogance dominate our fashion for everything and our Internet conversations. Who hasn’t been irritated by the “trolls” who try (usually with bad gram-mar and poor spelling) to start an online ight with those whose opinions do not align with theirs? Our stores, catalogs, and online shopping sites are full of useless items geared in use and price to the very rich, as ordinary, useful things seem to fade off the sales scene. As the rich get richer, the poor get poorer and the middle class is fading away. What is the antidote to this? Hu-mility is a good place to start. Devotion to God is worth more than riches. “The father of orphans and the defender of wid-ows is God in his holy dwelling. God gives a home to the for-saken; [God] leads forth prisoners to prosperity.”

La humildad es una virtud que no vemos mucho en estos dıas. Parece que la vanidad, la pre-potencia y la arrogancia dominan nuestras costum-bres de todo y en nuestras conversaciones en Inter-net. ¿Quien no se ha molestado por los trolls de quienes intentan (por lo general con una mala gra-matica y falta de ortografıa) empezar una pelea con aquellas personas que no coinciden con sus opinio-nes? Fast beforeMass. It is Church law that one fasts for at least (1) hour before receiving Holy Communion. Water and medicine can be con-sumed, of course. The purpose is to help us pre-pare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist. NoFoodandDrinkinChurch. The exceptions would be a drink for small children, water for the priest or choir (if discreet) and water for those who are ill. Bringing a snack into church is not appro-priate, because we want to set the church apart as a place of prayer and re lection.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SACRAMENTS The Seven Sacraments continue the saving work of Jesus until he comes again and form the center of the cele-bration of the Christian mystery. Participation in the sac-raments, especially the Eucharist, is not simply an option; rather, it is foundational to sustain the faithful in union with the very life of the Trinity and to strengthen them for the rigors of living their faith as committed disciples.

Prayer for the Beginning of the School Year Lord our God, in your wisdom and love you surround us with the mysteries of the universe. In times long past you sent us your prophets to teach your laws and to bear witness to your undying love. You sent us your Son to teach us by word and example that true wisdom comes from you alone. Send your Spirit upon all students and their teachers and ill them with your wisdom and blessings. Grant that during this academic year they may devote themselves to their studies and share what they have learned from others. Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Youth Ministry Confirmation Registrations Con irmation is a two-year program, candidates meet every irst and third Tuesday of every month in the Parish hall. Registrations Open Enrollment starting July 9th through the month of July and August until the 100 spaces are illed. Application are available in the youth ministry of ice and rectory.

PROPER SUMMER (HOT WEATHER) ATTIRE The hot weather months are here and the coming months might be characterized as “casual”. Howev-er, we respectfully ask that ALL parishioners make an effort to dress appropriately for Sunday Eucha-rist. Shorts, cut-off jeans, tank tops, athletic shirts and short skirts are very inappropriate in the House of God. Our respect for the Lord and the other members of Christ’s body de-mands that we dress appropriately. Does what I am wearing show respect for where I am going to and tell everyone how I feel about this sacred action?
